Ok, so in this household we have a christmas dinner type deal on Christmas eve, then on christmas day, we have a buffet type thing during the day and some curry or what not, now..I would like to have a Christmas Breakfast tradition for me DH and DS, who will be 3 in Dec.

What do you all have for christmas breakfast?! Confused

We have a fry up "proper English" about 9.30 or 10 am (kids - 4 & 1 - might get all the chocolate out of their stockings a bit of cereal or a slice of toast before that though).

Then presents.

Then Christmas dinner about 4pm. Sandwich in between times for young'uns or if anyone is starving.

Cheese on toast for anyone still up about 9pm.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 02/11/2011 19:36

We now have bacon butties, we used to have a full english but everyone was too full for lunch. Have a friend who's DH does a bbq or how about the Nigella Muffins?

ThatsNotMyBabyBelly · 02/11/2011 19:36

Bacon sandwiches! DB used to inhale his selection box to my mother's disgust, but she always did bacon sandwiches and now I do.

PyrotechnicsAtYourCervix · 02/11/2011 19:37

chocolate.

BecauseImWorthIt · 02/11/2011 19:37

We have scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, with Bucks Fizz. Then carry on drinking Champagne all day! Christmas dinner at around 4ish, depending what's on the telly.

Methe · 02/11/2011 19:38

Bacon sandwich here too :)

hellhasnofury · 02/11/2011 19:38

Shortbread and chocolate biscuits eaten sitting on our bed. The kids are 19 and 21 now but they refuse to break that tradition.

Lisatheonewhoeatsdrytoast · 02/11/2011 19:39

Right, i'm going to do a full english type thing or scottish Wink with square sausage etc, i think that sounds fab-ish, Failing that it's bacon rolls all round!!

I usually do the chocolate thing..so stop trying to tempt me people!!! Angry

Catsmamma · 02/11/2011 19:39

so just us overindulgers who crack open the chocolate oranges/chocolate pennies and bucks fizz for breakfast??

PandaG · 02/11/2011 19:39

home cooked gammon, sausage rolls, brown bread and butter. Don't know why, is what we always have at my parents', and as we always stay at my parents' for Christmas that is breakfast. I think if I were at home smoked salmon and scrambled egg on bagels would hit the spot.

elliepac · 02/11/2011 19:40

Croissants, strawberries and Bucks Fizz. DH would have a full English everytime but then no-one eats lunch.

billgrangersrisotto · 02/11/2011 19:41

Croissants and pain au chocolat. Yum!!

PrimaBallerina · 02/11/2011 19:41

Bacon and fried tomato sandwiches. I never put the tomato in at any other time of year even though it's delicious. I had this on the morning of my wedding as a special treat too.

DH's family tradition is exactly the same as BecauseImWorthIt's.

EXACTLY the same...

Are you my MIL???!!!

WhatWouldLeoDo · 02/11/2011 19:42

We always plan on having pancakes but end up having bacon rolls. However, as I'm not working on Christmas Eve this year I'm going to make Nigella's christmas muffins instead although will probably end up with bacon rolls again

BlondeBatgirl · 02/11/2011 19:43

Chocolate Blush and toast! We usually have dinner around 1pm!
At home this year so I might try bacon sandwiches and chocolate and have dinner abit later!

Yama · 02/11/2011 19:43

At my parents house, it's usually the full Scottish (Dad loves sqaure sausage and black pudding) and a cheeky wee glass of champagne.

Round of tea and coffee to start the day first though for all the bleary-eyed adults.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 02/11/2011 19:44

Bucks Fizz here too.

thestringcheesemassacre · 02/11/2011 19:44

I think this year we'll do croissants and then I crack the chocolates.

Lisatheonewhoeatsdrytoast · 02/11/2011 19:44

Bugger you all, with your mentions of chocolate, you know i'm going to eat half a slice of bacon and all the selection boxes now...don't you!! Grin

We usually have bacon croissants (not hugely french I know!)

But this is the first year that we have no guests just the 4 of us so I don't know.. perhaps it will be chocolate!

SecretNutellaFix · 02/11/2011 19:49

I always though chocolate was the compulsory Christmas breakfast?

GnomeDePlume · 02/11/2011 19:54

Our tradition is that everyone has their favourite breakfast whatever that is. Thankfully nobody suggests kedgeree!

This is followed by washing up, dressing, showers etc then Buck's Fizz then presents. As DCs get older its getting later and later!

zaphod · 02/11/2011 20:01

We always have porridge with half a cap of irish whiskey, brown sugar and whipped cream on top. Only on Christmas morning!

We usually have a pastry (danish/croissant/pain au chocolat) and coffee (hot choc for kids) when the kids get up really early early on, then a full cooked breakfast about 10.30/11 ish and then dinner at about 4.30/5pm, but we are never too full to eat it as we don't have traditional dinner.

We have seafood and salad, prawns, king prawns, lobster, smoked and poached salmon, sometimes HM gravad lax too, and some new potatoes Grin its lovely because all I have to do is cook the potatoes and assemble a salad so I can really enjoy the day with the kids (5 and 4)

And they love it too, DD actually requested it when we were talking Christmas the other day Grin
