FIL dies before I met DP Sad

DMIL is loves cooking and is getting a Nativity cookie cutter set (with a label saying to open before Christmas) and a set of 3 pasty presses, because she makes them absolutely delicious regularly.

Sounds a bit crap from the outside, but she really does love cooking and baking. DP and I chose them together in Lakeland the other day! Lovely lovely MIL and SIL clubbed together to get me a breadmaker last year, so we've got a bit of a history to it, though.

If yours is that bad, I suggest Per Una Speciale

purplepidjin · 01/11/2011 20:27

*died. Sorry Sad

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 01/11/2011 20:28

Last year we I got them a voucher for tea at The Ritz.

It went down very well.

Not sure what to get for them this year yet!

PotteringAlong · 01/11/2011 20:29

Tickets to Ronnie Scott's in London

Flisspaps · 01/11/2011 20:34

Pyjamas probably.

DD has got them both a voucher for 1 Krispy Kreme doughnut a month for a year (or 12 at once, if they prefer!)

Moblem · 01/11/2011 20:40

Nothing. Its DH's family and DH's responsibility Grin.

pramsgalore · 01/11/2011 22:46

we have got dp parents a digital photo frame and we are going to download all the kids pics on to it for them

cjbartlett · 01/11/2011 22:49

Hmm they already got the digital frame thing
Not inspired so far sorry!
Maybe I'll let him get his usual crap Grin

vouchers for tickets to something they enjoy like cinema or concerts or a meal?
My PILS never go out because they feel they can't justify the cost so we usually get them something like tickets or vouchers for a night out.

manicmummyoftwo · 01/11/2011 23:22

Annual ticket to National Trust.
They will be v v v pleased, so I am feeling very a little bit smug

bumpybecky · 01/11/2011 23:22

FIL always has red wine and then a silly present. This year it's rude dot-to-dot puzzles (but please don't throw me to the feminists!)

MIL getting second series of Downton Abbey on DVD and probably a plant of some kind

ENormaSnob · 02/11/2011 09:18

My mil and her boyfriend (who is the age as me Grin) are having a mini hamper containing Christmas pud vodka, luxury chocs, home made chutney and a scented candle. Wil probably get them a bottle of champers too.

Fil is having a mini hamper and a pair of slippers.

Plus mil will have a small gift (scarf) off the dc too.

RoseC · 02/11/2011 09:25

I'm making DP's Mum a tea wreath as I can't contribute financially to any present. DP dithered between a slow cooker and an Internet course but following some funny mistakes in the last few weeks has settled firmly on the latter. In our defence she is a very difficult woman! His Dad is no longer with us.

My parents (from us, so situation reversed) are getting a crate of beer dressed up as reindeer (Dad) and a ceramic bunny cotton wool ball holder where the balls act as a fluffy tail you pull out (Mum - she loves rabbits). Plus other little bits and pieces like homemade spiced nuts, hand scrub etc.

TheRealMrsHannigan · 02/11/2011 09:36

MIL has some diabetic chocolates from Thorntons and a tunic top from Dorothy Perkins. FIL has a chocoholic gift pack and a jumper.

ThingsThatGoFlumpInTheNight · 02/11/2011 09:42

OP seriously, I would leave it to your DH - and tell him that he needs to put a bit more effort in this year since they'll be at yours. Other than that it's not your responsibility IMO. As long as they know he bought the hand soap and not you Grin

purplepidjin · 02/11/2011 12:24

RoseC, that bunny is awesome I've emailed the link to DP so he can get one for his sister Grin

Pinner35 · 02/11/2011 12:28

My mil is getting this from us.....she loves gardening but struggles somewhat.

WinterIsComing · 02/11/2011 12:34

Yankee Candle 12 days of Christmas gift set here I got mine from Amazon and they smell amazing even in the presentation box.

I had to get another one for me Blush

Listzilla · 02/11/2011 12:36

PILs have announced that they no longer want to participate in gift giving or receiving (I think they think none of us can afford it), so they're getting a homemade christmas cake and a framed photo of DD is her christmas outfit. The cake doesn't count, right? And they'd get the photo eventually anyway, we're just choosing to wrap it and give it to them before Christmas.

My family agreed to my some muppet's stupid idea of only doing homemade gifts this year, then once I'd gotten to far into it all to stop, they changed their minds and decided to buy instead. But they're still all getting hampers full of homemade hopefully edible tasty goodness from us!

moogalicious · 02/11/2011 12:40

This year London theatre tickets.

In previous years we have got them a wine tasting voucher, dinner out 'voucher' - we took them to a Japanese restaurant and tickets to a gig eg Bootleg Beatles

WhatWouldLeoDo · 02/11/2011 13:26

MIL is getting a nice scarf that we picked up when in London earlier in the year and FIL is getting this book about beer along with some speciality beers.

We've got them vouchers for nice restaurants in the past - they like going out for lunch and dinner so that always goes down well.

They'll also get a photo calendar from DS.

Ja9 · 02/11/2011 14:06

Mil getting a scarf, leather gloves and a poetry book. Fil getting B&Q vouchers and a book.

AVoidkaTheKillerZombies · 02/11/2011 14:13

A canvas print of the DC's.

azazello · 02/11/2011 14:16

Framed pictures of felt dinosaurs with sequin detailing (made by the DCs) with some nice photos of the DCs and some biscuits. DH is then getting his mum the Julia Child cookery course and the Julie and Julia DVD nd some DVDs for his dad.

needshelpwitheveryday · 02/11/2011 16:58
