Do stocking presents get wrapped in your house?

And what are the things that they always have in them?

Tangerine essential for the bottom of the stocking. Generally DS's will have some lego in. Hawkin's Bazaar important for little things which won't last but are great to open. Chocolate coins have to be there. And there needs to be an annual :)

And every single present is wrapped up (with possibly less attention to detail as I go through Grin)

No! I decided last year that there would be no more wrapping of stocking presents. I tend to do all my wrapping in one evening with a bottle of wine and as we have lots of people to buy for, by the time that I've done all the proper presents it's already way past bedtime.

Agree re: the need for tangerines, chocolate coins and an annual!

MonsterCherry · 27/10/2011 13:27

most of them do. i dont wrap the chocs/fruit etc, and i dont wrap little fiddly bits of stuff from hawkins, but this year they have hexbugs which will be wrapped, and any regular shaped items will be wrapped too.

ASuitableGirl · 27/10/2011 13:29

Thinking about it, I don't wrap the satsumas. And they are satsumas, not tangerines.

But everything else is wrapped Grin

I wrap, it gets rid of all the annoying small bits of paper that aren't big enough for anything else.

OTheHugeWerewolef · 27/10/2011 13:38

Tangerine in the toe. Essential.

Stocking things don't get wrapped. The stocking itself constitutes enough wrapping unless you're a mad masochist or a wrapping obsessive.

ASuitableGirl · 27/10/2011 13:41

Am possibly wrapping obsessive (although they never look great)

No stocking presents aren't wrapped ( as pp said the stocking is the wrapping IMHO). There also HAS to be socks and underwear.

Mrsfluff · 27/10/2011 13:46

I wrap all stocking pressies (wrapping obsessive here ;-) ) I don't put a satsuma in though

nickelbabe · 27/10/2011 14:04

stocking is the wrapping.

contents:
satsuma (not tangerine, cos they're vile)
apple
chocolate coins
small token pressie

ENormaSnob · 27/10/2011 14:13

I wrap everything in sight.

Accompanied by a bottle of advocaat, chocs and vh1 Christmas top 20 countdown Grin

MamaPizza · 27/10/2011 14:26

I wrap all the stockings but only because DS loves unwrapping. In fact, he would be happy if I just chucked lots of wrapping paper in his stocking. He is getting lots of Poundland things in his stocking (card games, puzzles...) and the obligatory underwear and socks.

RatherBeKnownAsALooseHooker · 27/10/2011 14:30

yes wrapped here too and Dc are 14 and 12
but not satsumas or the chocolate coins!

TabithaTwitchet · 27/10/2011 14:31

Yes, they are all wrapped. But Father Christmas uses brown paper, or tissue paper, not wrapping paper.

Essentials are a piece of fruit, some chocolate, a small toy, a book, underwear or socks, and some kind of activity to keep DC quiet in the morning (ie sticker book or similar). Although DD2 will only be 6 months this year, so won't get any chocolate, or sticker book.

nickelbabe · 27/10/2011 14:34

Ex used to wrap his stocking presents to me.
very annoying having to open up the little tiny weeny parcels. Hmm

MadameCholetWasMyFavourite · 27/10/2011 14:35

Stocking present wrapper here, as I tend to be picking up bits for the stockings all year, it's normally all bought fairly early on so I have an evening of stocking filler wrapping early in the festive season to get me in the mood before hitting the main presents in a wrapping paper frenzy nearer the big day. Have to buy special paper that can't get used on anything else, when you have a 10 year old who is still desperate to believe you have to be very careful. Have found some very nice turquoise reindeer paper in Next which is perfect for my reindeer obsessed turquoise loving DD. Contents: satsuma, nuts (even though they don't like them) and, now that they are little older, a £1 coin (used to be chocolate coins). Several other presents either useful or smallish. I love stockings - best part of the day

RefereezaWanka · 27/10/2011 14:38

I wrap in cheapo paper, except for nuts (which never get eaten, but I always got and loved them as a kid, so my kids have to have them, too Grin), a satsuma and some chocolates at the bottom.

Stuff that I put in every year - bubble bath, 'magic' flannel, stickers, a Christmassy notebook and pencils, some joke shop toys, mini book, socks, hair bands for DD.

wahwahwah · 27/10/2011 14:39

Absolutely. It slows little people down when they wake up at 2am!

LoonyRationalist · 27/10/2011 14:52

Yes to wrapping - I'm with wahwahwah it slows them down.

Contents: satsuma, chocolate coins, magazine (how do you all fit annuals in stockings? Toothbrush, socks, Christmassy hairslides, cheap craft/stationary things from wilkinsons.

nickelbabe · 27/10/2011 14:54

I forgot the nuts! Shock

inmysparetime · 27/10/2011 14:59

I do not wrap stocking presents, and am such a meanie I often put in party bag tat that I have swiped out of the DCs party haul through the year!
I always put in a toothbrush, small toothpaste and mouthwash as well to counteract the smoothies and marshmallows (cheap but bulky)

WorkInProgress · 27/10/2011 15:10

I wrap too. MIL buys extras for the stocking but they don't wrap. Last year I requested she wrap hers too - cue cats bum mouth ! Disclaimer - generally get on quite well !

TheFallenMadonna · 27/10/2011 15:18

All wrapped except satsumas, apples and chocolate coins. We don't unwrap other presents until about 4pm, so a bit of installing in the morning is nice! And everyone who is staying has a stocking.

TheFallenMadonna · 27/10/2011 15:19

Installing? Unwrapping!

WorkInProgress · 27/10/2011 15:21

I like the everyone who is staying gets a stocking idea, especially as we are at MIL's this year. Do you think it will go down well if I suggest it ( wrapped presents inside obv)?

expectingnumber2 · 27/10/2011 15:22

How big are your DC's stockings Shock You would never get an anual in DS's! He gets in his a satsuma and chocolate coins then little thinks from Hawkin's which we open in bed. I'm hoping that it will be years before he grows out of it :o

Oh yes and I wrap them in tissue with minimal selotape!
