Do stocking presents get wrapped in your house?

And what are the things that they always have in them?

Tangerine essential for the bottom of the stocking. Generally DS's will have some lego in. Hawkin's Bazaar important for little things which won't last but are great to open. Chocolate coins have to be there. And there needs to be an annual :)

And every single present is wrapped up (with possibly less attention to detail as I go through Grin)

Satsuma must be wrapped in tinfoil. I thought everyone knew that?

*things

no wrapping
tangerine, chocolate coins, and a Cadbury's chocolate penguin are essential
also new socks and pants, hair bobbles, pens and pencils, DVD (we don't do all the Christmas Eve PJs and DVD business that everyone else seems to)

Annual goes in a pile next to the stocking along with other things that don't quite fit in.

I used to have an old stocking belonging to my granny. Was amazing how much you could get in one of them :)

I wrap in recycled paper from last Christmas, except the coins and satsuma, which must never be wrapped.

I do Blush

This thread has made me realise how silly that is Blush Blush

ASuitableGirl · 27/10/2011 15:56

It isn't at all silly.

People who don't wrap stocking presents are Wrong.

I am Right :)

How do you fit an annual in a stocking?

You give the kids a leg out of a pair of old tights each, that's how!

My DM always did this when we were kids. Dad said she was spending too much because she originally used to fill a santa sack with stuff for us as our stocking. However, crafty, christmas lover that she is, she sensibly decided my dad would think a tight leg much smaller however they stretch to massive proportions :D

I don't just wrap I superwrap.
DS and DD sleep in her room on Christmas Eve.Their stockings are gift bags with little flashing lights (DH and I slip them into the room at about 2am and put the lights on)

When they wake at stupid o'clock what my DS deems a suitable time (6am) they are kept busy with the stocking gift unwrapping.
The amount of paper a sellotape on them means DH and I get a bit of a lie in. Grin

Wrapper here. Santa brings the stocking so it has to be in different paper.

Lindax · 27/10/2011 19:40

wrapper here too, though hate doing it

first thing ds (7) does on xmas morning is bring his stocking into our bed and empty out contents onto bed and start unwrapping - picking each out by shape/size, guessing what it is and unwrapping, if they werent wrapped we would have to get out of bed quicker it would ruin it. think its the best bit of xmas, even better than going downstairs for the "big" toys.

BatsInTheSnowglobe · 27/10/2011 22:11

Everything is wrapped. Half the fun of getting presents is in the unwrapping! I always remember the feeling when I was little going downstairs to the living room really early, opening the door and the room would be almost dark with just the tree lights on, with piles of wrapped up pressies waiting to be opened... don't think it would have felt quite the same walking in and just simply seeing what you got without having to open them up!
But then I'm also wrapping obsessed and I enjoy wrapping things up! Grin
Had this conversation last year with friends as my OH's family don't wrap many presents. Guess it's just whatever you've grown up with!

Pancakeflipper · 27/10/2011 22:16

Some do some don't. Santa has his own wrapping paper too.

LordOfTheFlies · 27/10/2011 22:20

I love lying in bed listening to them chatting.
They think they are being all quiet and sneaky unwrapping their stocking gifts, but as they get through the paper and excitedly tell each other what they've got, it's lovely that they still appreciate the little Christmas Traditions.
Then they get the selection boxes open and bring them through to share.

Moblem · 27/10/2011 23:05

Yes. All sack presents are wrapped. FC has his own paper too (different paper for each child).

Sacks always include:
Vest / pants / socks / shower gel / toothbrush / chocolate selection pack / books / DVDs / chocolatey cereal plus a few toys. Most presents are under £5 each.
