Flubba those are great.

When's your craft fair? Mine is next saturday and I am so nervous but also quite excited!

Flubba · 18/11/2011 16:42

Oh thank you ladies :) Blush Fabric is gorgeous, I bought a couple of metres of it from Fabricland and have already used lots of it. Not selling the bucket thingies or the doorstep though - all for ME, ME, ME! my lovely children Wink

Craft fair is tomorrow - 11am start, 9am set-up time. Genuinely really nervous as my things are very, very much of the 'homemade' skillset. Blush

Flubba · 18/11/2011 16:52

Oh, and since starting on pinterest, "Not On The Highstreet.com" have found me and are sending me catalogues etc which in itself is annoying, but it does mean I have a whole new catalogue of ideas to steal inspire me :)

MartyrStewart · 18/11/2011 18:09

Good Luck with the craft fair Flubba - you are very talented.

I think I have managed to get a couple of pics on my profile. Niot great pictures but they show some of the hair clips I made for my niece and a keyring I made. I need to stick a few more on there over the weekend if my phone stops playing up.

overmydeadbody · 18/11/2011 18:19

Good Luck tomorrow FLubba, your things are great, I'm sure you will do well! You have to come back and tell us all about it!

Love Fabric Land, I always go there when we visit the inlaws in Christchurch.

Wholelottarosie I've made cake-pops a few times & I can't imagine how on earth they could create a machine to make them! They are pretty easy if a little time consuming - mix cake crumbs with butter cream or cream cheese, roll into balls, chill, stick lolly stick into a ball & dip into melted choc/candy melts, sprinkle with decorations. I have made them for my DSs' parties & they seem to go down better with the adults than the children Grin

Planning to make some christmassy ones for hampers & teacher presents.

Lovely hairclips Martyr. I did some felt flowers on kirby grips and they look sweet. Didn't really hold up to the test of my two looney darling daughters after a day of madness playing, so have bunged a whole load more glue on them Hmm

If you don't hear from me for a few days, it'll be because I'm burying my head in shame. :o One of the things I'm worried about most tomorrow is leaving my 3 kids with DH for the morning! First time he's had them on his own for more than 2 hours! :o :o

And it's official - some of my fudge I made yonks ago isn't good enough to give as presents, so my DH is making the sacrifice of eating his way through it to free up a jar so I can make more. What a man.

MartyrStewart · 18/11/2011 21:06

Blush Thanks Flubba.

I am annoyed I didn't get a pic of the later ones, I did some really cool owl and babushka ones. I sewed the flowers on with about a million stitches, so they are still intact so far.

Your DH is a hero Grin

LoveBeingAFirework · 19/11/2011 12:19

MartyrStewart wow the photos look great. You are very talented, especially the last 2 photos Grin

overmydeadbody · 19/11/2011 12:23

wholelottarosie I think buying a cake pop maker would be a collosal waste of money and kitchen space unless you are planning on making cake pops daily or for a living.

If you just want to make them for the occasinal birthday party you might as wekk just make them the original way as zeeky said, by mixing cake crumbs with icing, rolling into balls, hardening in fridge or freezer and then covering in melted choc or icing. There are lots of different recipes online for them.

I have to admit I have not made cake pops yet, but they look good!

overmydeadbody · 19/11/2011 12:35

wholelottarose this cake pop tutorial looks good!

MartyrStewart · 19/11/2011 13:07

LBAF - Those took a lot longer to make, and I may have had some help Grin

acsec · 19/11/2011 16:19

I've made 2 wire button hearts today - very tricky! My wire is a little thick, but will persevere and make some more tomorrow.

MartyrStewart · 19/11/2011 17:20

How did the craft fair go Flubba?

Flubba · 19/11/2011 18:25

Phew am back and knackered - went straight from fair to a 4 year old's birthday party. Anyway, craft fair went well - slow start where I panicked a bit but it picked up and I had a steady stream of customers. Best sellers were my mini stockings, my father christmasses and angels, my MYO father christmasses and christmas puddings. Lots of excitement about my crayon rolls and car rolls, but only sold 6 of them. Brought home about £170 which is about £130 profit I reckon (and considering most things cost £1.50 or £2 is quite good) - need to do my sums a bit more to be exact.
Lots of fun and have enough stock to give as presents to nieces and daughters etc as originally intended :)

LoveBeingAFirework · 19/11/2011 18:48

Flubba that's great news well done

overmydeadbody · 19/11/2011 19:55

Wow Flubba that is great news!

So did you sell all the car roll up cases you made? How much did you charge? I am just trying to work out prices for my fair next saturday.

Well done again! Was it fun? Were the other stall sellers friendly?

RueDeWakening · 19/11/2011 20:10

Wow Flubba that's brilliant :)

overmydeadbody - I sell empty car rolls for £12, ones including the cars for £15 normally but depends on exactly how many cars they want! Costs more for more than 6 garages :o I sold 3 at a playgroup Christmas fair I did earlier this week, with 2 more enquiries through people who saw it but wanted to think since then too. Cost wise, they cost me approx £4 in materials to make plus my time (which I normally charge at £7/hr). So really it depends on whether you want to pay yourself for the time you've spent on them, IYSWIM. You could sell them for anything from £6 upwards and still make some £££.

crumbletastic · 19/11/2011 20:15

Woot, great sales at your craft fair flubba.

Flubba · 19/11/2011 20:18

Hi. I only sold 2 car rolls. I sold them for £8 with three cars (five slots) although mine are quite a bit smaller than ruede's. Sold crayon rolls fo r£6 with 16 crayons. I'm not charging for my time, as I'm not good enough to, and, at the moment at least, I'm enjoying doing it as a hobby.

Other stall holders were lovely and I did enjoy it. Genuinely knackered now though! Hmm. :o I reckon my little hairclips etc would have sold really well if it's something you do too? Lots of people looking for small stocking filler type presents for young girls.

I had a few people asking for my 'card' which I clearly don't have. Blush

overmydeadbody · 19/11/2011 20:36

Thanks Ruede, great advice there! I only have two roll up car carry cases for my fair, and funnily enough I was thinking of charging £12 each for them. If there is a lot of interest in them I will take orders.

Flubba thanks , I have been trying to work out the price for everything today, like you I enjoy doing it as a hobby so won't be charging exactly what I put in in time, but I have a very large collection of different things, but not too many of the same thing, and no two things identical, lots of pocket money stocking filler things and then everything in between, from sets of coasters to large shoulder bags, oven gloves, purses, wallets, hot mats and baubles.

I have yet to make business cards, wasn't going to bother but you have made me think it will be worth it even if I just make some of my own (fabric cards? could that work? embroidered? hhmmmmm)

overmydeadbody · 19/11/2011 20:38

my brain is working in overtime now, I have to go away and make some prototype fabric business cards
