OLD THREAD

We were all on about pinterest, jars, and where we are up to in our christmas planning :)

Lets go...

Not done much more yet although the mincemeat is made.
Am now on Pinterest though and have spent all my BFing time shamelessly stealing repinning all your amazing pins. That site willbe the end of my productivity I swear!

Totally in awe of those of you doing fairs though - can understand your nerves but think it's brilliant you'd give it a go - would certainly invest in some of the items mentioned and posted here, so sure you'llhave great success.

Mrstired - I have also put together rosemary-infused sea salt flakes - little jars of sea salt with bits of roaemary stuck in. Embarrassingly easy but after just 24 hours it smells lush!

Love it, fresh/dreid rosemary and do you leave it in?

mrstiredandconfused · 16/11/2011 11:27

It's fresh rosemary (sis has a huge plant which she complains is way too big so I've been scrounging!) Obviously washed and dried to within an inch of its life (i've tried similar before but the salt clumped as it was still slightly damp), then just filled the jars bit by bit and stuck bits of rosemary in between the layers of salt. I'm going to leave the rosemary in firstly to try to make sure that the flavour stays (also figured that the salt would "preserve" the rosemary), and secondly I think seeing the rosemary is a nice touch!

LoveBeingAFirework · 16/11/2011 12:02

That's lovely thanks

theancientmarinator · 16/11/2011 18:17

By the way, MrsT we are all completely in awe of each other too. I am never sure whether reading this thread is encouraging me or making me feel inadequate... and suspect this is completely normal!

On careful thought - encouraging Grin

mrstiredandconfused · 16/11/2011 18:30

Grin Thanks ancient!

Flubba · 16/11/2011 18:49

ooh yes, much awe here for all the wonderful things everyone is making or planning on making.

Big fecking relief here, I have finally finished my six aprons for my nephews and nieces, and, what's more, have done my first bit of appliqué on one of them. Now I just have to decide which poor sods children get the dodgy ones Blush :o

Designing a kindle cover tonight. Denim methinks.

Anyone got any experience with Christmas table runners? Do I try and do a bunch of christmassy red materials in patchwork (which I've never attempted), or just do one pattern (which is a bit of a cop-out but a helluva lot easier) or just do one pattern for the ends and attempt some fancy star from patchwork for the middle? Confused Confused

MartyrStewart · 16/11/2011 19:38

Don't know if this is any use to anyone, but my local 99p store has mini hot water bottles. I am going to make a cute cover for one and give it to my sister for her birthday on sunday - but could be a Christmas gift ?

theancientmarinator · 16/11/2011 20:32

ooh - Martyr can you say which 99p store so I can rush out if it is the same as ours? Mini hotties would be perfect

RueDeWakening · 16/11/2011 21:56

I saw mini hot water bottles in Poundland last week... :o

MartyrStewart · 16/11/2011 23:41

Here

MartyrStewart · 16/11/2011 23:42

Their slogan is the cheesy as fuck 'Twice the range - and a penny change' which always makes me Grin

Flubba · 17/11/2011 15:18

Have 'upcycled' some jeans into pretty bucket boxes thanks to pinterest. :) At somepoint I think the world might run out of thread for me Confused

Martyr I love the christmassy feel of your message "cheesy as fuck" :o :o

MartyrStewart · 17/11/2011 17:07

I aim to please flubba Grin

overmydeadbody · 17/11/2011 21:32

Flubba any chance we can see some photos of your bucket boxes? They sound brilliant! Love a new way to use up old jeans...

Flubba · 17/11/2011 22:16

hehe, that wasn't prhaps the best description of them Blush but have uploaded a pic of them for you lovely ladies :) (been out for a Wine hence the niceties :o :o)

also a link on my pinterest board on how to make them

LoveBeingAFirework · 17/11/2011 23:11

Flubba they are amazing. Funnily enough I've got a couple if pairs of jeans sat waiting to fullfill their upcyclying destiny Grin they were going to be bags for some Xmas presses, I'm not sure now.

Flubba · 18/11/2011 09:38

Thanks Love

Countdown for craft fair has begun - yikes!

theancientmarinator · 18/11/2011 10:44

I am a total convert to the upcyclage of jeans since signing up to Pinterest. I made my toddler a cute little bag and some beanbags from a pair of jeans he has outgrown and a friend has pointed out that since he lives in jeans and grows at the speed of Jack's beanstalk if I upcycle all his outgrown jeans over the next year I could fill a stall at a craft fair without much outlay on materials... You Fair Ladies have given me the confidence to try a few fairs for the first time in over a decade next year - hope you are all still posting to inspire and reassure in twelve months!

theancientmarinator · 18/11/2011 10:44

PS Flubba, I love the ones on Pinterest but I like your lining fabric even more!

MartyrStewart · 18/11/2011 12:12

Where is the link to the bucket boxes? I am still in ignorance to what they are.

Flubba · 18/11/2011 13:00

I've got a pic of my 'bucket boxes' (I think I should have used the word tubs) on my profile, and this is where I got the idea from.

MartyrStewart · 18/11/2011 14:40

They Purty Smile

Zeeky · 18/11/2011 16:08

Flubba I love that fabric you used for the linings & door stop - where's that from then?
