Does Father Christmas use the same wrapping paper as you?

It just occured to me last night as I wrapped everything, I'm using the same paper for presents from us and from Father Christmas... ds is only 3 so I might just get away with it, but is this something I need to think about next year?

I did realise though, that this year DD will be 7 and I have bought those wrapping seals (circle things) instead of sellotape, and wrapped everyting using them. Now bothered to see if DD realises!

Ormirian · 22/12/2010 22:08

No! Never. It's most important. One year he did wrap some in the same paper as me and DS1 and DD whispered about it Hmm

brimfull · 22/12/2010 22:23

Santa present wrapped in separate paper ,only one thing from santa and a few little things in stocking on fireplace.
FC doesn't go anywhere near the bedrooms.
Ds is 8 and says he still believes but I'm pretty sure he's having me on.Must carry on with the charade anywya though.

Bit worried now that some of dd's stocking gifts he may have seen me buy ...god..it'll be much easier when he susses it out.

trumpton · 22/12/2010 22:23

FC wraps stocking presents in special paper and has a GREEN pen to write a special letter that goes in top of stocking. DDs are vair vair grown up now but still sit on the end of our bed and show us what FC has brought them . DH is always suprised but I pretend to be suprised. ( I bought and wrapped all the fecking stuff )

panettoinydog · 22/12/2010 22:26

Have different paper. It's a pain

androbbob · 22/12/2010 22:36

I learnt last year to use two different papers for each child (Thanks MN!) and last year DD noticed that FC used the same paper that we had used the year earlier - gosh she is sharp!

Suffice to say I have four different papers - DD has two - one from FC and one from us,and DS the same scenario but 'boy' paper! The last bits of the roll will be passed to Grandma to use next year as she is not tastefully co-ordinated and uses any old stuff!!

The FC paper is hidden in the boot of my car at the moment!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 22/12/2010 22:38

I had got a separate roll, but think we'll need it for tree stuff. So I've stolen the idea here about using coloured tissue paper! Much more elvey-looking!

When we were children, my mum used to buy a roll of really cheap, garish, thin wrapping paper in mixed designs from a street trader specially for stocking stuff. She didn't use it for tree presents, and for some reason it made getting stocking presents even better, even after we stopped believing. The stuff was almost as thin and rippy as tissue and printed really crudely in clashing colours - there was always one bit in cobalt blue and orange that was very striking Xmas Grin, and a fushia pink that I particularly prized. You can't get it any more - I've looked. Xmas Sad

This is the first year that FC has used the same paper as us. As the girls are now 15 and 13 I figure they might have sussed things by now!

In previous years, not only has FC had his own wrapping paper, he has made individualised gift tags for them too. This year FC/mummy can't be bothered with that shenanigans.

My DD spotted FC had same paper as us one year, so after that we were VERY careful.

Even now they are huge teenagers, I find I want stockings to be with different paper.

BertieBottlesOfMulledWine · 22/12/2010 22:58

I remember my sister saying to me very seriously on Christmas morning when she was about 5 and I was 8 "I know Father Christmas is real because look, he does his Es like this on the labels and Mummy writes round ones." (My mum does indeed write capital Es like a C with an extra line)

I remember thinking "I never noticed that!" Blush

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 22/12/2010 23:02

we always use different wrapping paper
DH is anal about wrapping but I am allowed to do the stockings because it may be too obvious that FC is connected to dh

Breezy1985 · 23/12/2010 00:43

Differant paper here to, and always a charecter they love.. This year DD has disney princess and DS has toy story, though i had a couple more to wrap for DD so just used last years paper and now i'm hoping she won't notice Hmm she's 6...

Breezy1985 · 23/12/2010 00:45

character even Blush

healthyElfy · 23/12/2010 09:21

Santa doesnt wrap! He is too busy! :o

SeaTrek · 23/12/2010 14:09

Don't have that problem, either!

ALl of DS's presents are from named people. Santa just collects them all up and delivers them on Christmas eve.

We put 'wrap' everything is nice fabric santa sacks/bags with drawstrings...so it is the same wrapping every year!

DoNotWantAnotherMincePie · 23/12/2010 15:10

We do not have any presents under our tree. All the presents are from FC except one which goes under the tree at my mums (from their dad and I).

We use different paper and they get delivered and left by the front door. We then open them and go round to my mums about 11am and open all the family/adult presents.

pugsandseals · 23/12/2010 15:50

We have had to be REALLY careful this year - DD (age 8) has read and memorised the whole of 'How Santa Really Works' so is ready to pounce at the slightest thing we do differently!!!

My advice to all is to read this book if DC's are ever likely to read it & have everything done in the same way. I am sure she is using it as a test to see if Father Christmas really exists this year!

Mind you, my strange deluded DD is often known to correct us when we offer her banned things like chocolate that have been taken away as punnishment for crimes. Obviously adherance to the rules is more important than sneaking a bit of chocolate before we realise our mistake. We do have a strange child!!!

omnietyinstables · 23/12/2010 17:52

8? wow pugs and seals - thats good going...

activate · 23/12/2010 17:52

NO of course he doesn't

SummerRain · 23/12/2010 17:56

Never... because i copped on to The Santa Conspiracy when i found Santa's paper in my mother's wrapping paper drawer.

So in our house most presents from Santa are set up and those that so get wrapped get wrapped with different paper, tags, ribbons and writing than the other stuff and it all gets hidden somewhere the children will never see the rest of the year Xmas Grin

thumbplumpuddingwitch · 24/12/2010 14:51

Ha! so much for my lovingly bought tissue paper. In the end, I didn't bother wrapping them, partly because I left it too late and cba, partly because it's nicer to be able to see what you've emptied out of the stocking and go "wow!" and mostly because the tissue paper would have seriously buggered up the packing of the stocking (and unpacking too) as it would interfere with the slideability of the various items.
