Does Father Christmas use the same wrapping paper as you?

It just occured to me last night as I wrapped everything, I'm using the same paper for presents from us and from Father Christmas... ds is only 3 so I might just get away with it, but is this something I need to think about next year?

The kids pick their wrapping paper here, which gets sent to Father Christmas so he can tell their presents apart. This year DS1 has CARS, DS2 has Toy Story.

I'm going to have to remember to ask my mum why she didn't wrap our Santa presents.

It'll probably be something like they couldn't afford/justify the extra wrapping paper, but I wonder if it's something they got from their own parents? They came from much bigger families so it'd have saved quite a bit not wrapping gifts from Santa.

SnowMuchToBits · 22/12/2010 13:10

Yes, Father Christmas always uses different paper here - even though ds is now too old to believe! Xmas Blush

Suzi - I remember our Father Christmas stocking gifts were always wrapped when I was a child. In paper, saved and reused from other presents we'd had the year before. Obviously my parents were trying to save money (or recycle!). I never twigged until I was older though....

SnowMuchToBits · 22/12/2010 13:13

Ah, X-posts BeerTricks! Xmas Grin

JenaiMarrsTartanFoxCube · 22/12/2010 13:19

I didn't realise (most?) people put presents under the tree from Father Christmas. Father Christmas only stuffs the stocking, and I'll be buggered if I'm wrapping all that.

JenaiMarrsTartanFoxCube · 22/12/2010 13:20

Having said that I have worried before that pretty much everything in ds's stocking was from Morrisons. But then I guess even father Christmas goes to supermarkets.

dockate · 22/12/2010 13:21

Yes, in our house Mummy posts Santa the wrapping paper in advance so it is usually the same. This year for the first time the 2 DCs each have different stocking wrapping paper, saving Santa from having to write their names on every item; MUCH better!

omnietyinstables · 22/12/2010 13:21

I think it was to do with the money but also because my mum thought that the unwrapping waswhat children actually liked best and so she saved that for the mum and dad present downstairs iyswim.

It was still fab though a you reach your arm into the sack and pull something out...dh doesnt agree though - he says its depriving them.

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 22/12/2010 13:23

Oh yes.

He uses coloured tissue paper and rainbow wool - no sellotape.

undercovasanta · 22/12/2010 13:26

DD knows that FC is in constant communication with me and DH in the lead up to Xmas. Mainly over important things such as DDs good behaviour (Wink), but we also confer on issues such as wrapping paper, which presents DH and I are going to buy, and which ones FC is going to put in DDs stocking. Grin

This year FC and I have decided to use the same wrapping paper because we know DD will love it (Disney princess!!!).

pipplin · 22/12/2010 13:27

Oh Father Christmas doesn't wrap DS's presents, he is such a busy man. DS has helped mummy wrap presents to family by getting s whole ball of the twirly shiny string and throw it all around :)

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 22/12/2010 13:33

FC has different paper and tags to me. and a big silver pen to write names on.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 22/12/2010 13:34

oh and he only brings 2 or 3 smaller gifts per child. the rest if mummy and daddys job

LemonDifficult · 22/12/2010 13:43

RustyBear'S Santa will be visiting the Difficult house this year with extra drink left out for that helpful elf.

Our wrapping paper is differen to Father Christmas, and he seems to have lots more variety. (But if you had a very good memory you might notice it's the same as the stuff all the relatives used on presents last year, which FC has very sneakily recycled...)

bellastella · 22/12/2010 21:34

Father Christmas only brings the presents that fit in a smallish stocking here. He wraps a few of them but not all. He does use different paper than me and OH though.

My mum and dad never wrapped the stocking presents though. I started it when once there was a present that was too big to fit but I wanted it to be a surprise.

CrispyTheChristmasCracker · 22/12/2010 21:36

Yes he does. Actually DD1 would have picked us up on it last year if he hadn't (at 3). Oddly this year i think she would overlook it Confused

FC only brings the stockings here though. I want the credit for the rest Grin

Smithagain · 22/12/2010 21:37

Usually he does, but this year he seems to have forgotten to buy some. So he is keeping his fingers crossed that no-one will notice because he can't be arsed hasn't got time to get to the shops again.

mumeeee · 22/12/2010 21:40

FC only brings stocking stuff here and it is never wrapped.
Ky friends son found out quite early about FC as he noticece the presents from him were wrapped in the same paper as other presents.

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 22/12/2010 21:42

Different paper for me. He's never wrapped before but DD asked a santa if he would so I gathered it was important to her Confused.
He has also sent her an Octonauts card and tags to be stuck in the stocking - because I printed them out but I'm not sure what to do with them now Xmas Grin.

NormalityBites · 22/12/2010 21:43

No he doesn't. Santa always uses red paper. Plain red. No red presents are allowed under the tree and then there is no confusion!

NormalityBites · 22/12/2010 21:45

Oh yeah he brings a small pile of small gifts, we give the rest!

Bluestocking · 22/12/2010 21:59

Santa uses the cheapest wrapping paper available - he used to get it from Woolies but now it comes from Poundland or similar. Presents from parents are wrapped in nice, tasteful paper.

Millimat · 22/12/2010 22:06

I do wonder when reading this how children don't suss it all earlier. Reading this, everybody says their own thing! In our house, FC brings everything for the children, and to both grandparents houses too - all wrapped of course. I couldn't bear not watching thier faces as they unwrap their presents Xmas Grin
DH wouldn't be bothered though. When he was little everything was left in his bedroom unwrapped. For me, I'm afraid its a huge , exciting fuss, waiting to go downstairs to see if he's been...
