I think i am invisible - I linked to it at the top.

I have it on DVD. My best friend and I had it on video, taped from TV. We watched it over and over. Oh how we wanted to be Anne Shirley. Not Diana though, she was too prissy.

Notevenamouse · 16/12/2010 17:49

I loved it because she had red hair. I have never accidentally turned mine green though.

Yes! Yes! oh thank you christmaseve - you are spot on, Gilbert Blythe was played by Christopher Blake. He died? Sad Sad he will forever be young, earnest and promising Smile For those that have not seen this earlier version, I for one recommend it. I remember being impressed by the accents. Thanks again.

Oh, I remember the 70s Anne. I remember wondering if the actress really had to cut her hair.

I've just finished reading the Anne books to my DD, all but one compilation of christmas-related stories. I had never read the whole series myself before. The last, Rilla of Ingleside is set in WWI and I'm glad I didn't get to it till DD was 11. Also, some of the stories in the two Chronicles of Avonlea books are a bit odd - I'd advise reading them through beforehand to check if you think they're ok for your DC.

According to this it was someone called Robin Halstead ... I can't find a picture of either of these actors ...

I saw your link Noteven and am seriously considering an extra stocking filler for DD!

I loved all the Anne books but my favourite had to be Anne of Windy Willows.

iloveblue · 16/12/2010 21:09

Anne of Ingleside was my favourite - I've read it so many times. Might even dig it out for another read.
I love hearing about all her children - and it makes me cry at the end, when she thinks Gilbert doesn't love her anymore but he really does.

now this is where Lovefilm really comes into its own!

They used to have all four films on consecutive days over Christmas, I remember hiding away in my bedroom to watch them.

If there were only some decent films (i.e. that follow the books) of Little House on the Prairie my life would be complete...are there?

Urbanvoltaire · 16/12/2010 22:54

Whilst on holiday in Boston I talked (!) my friend into driving 1.5 days to Prince Edward Island all in the aim of seeing a bit of Annes life! Twas idyllc, we stayed 2 days then drove back.

I ran away to PEI to get married!! Thought it was incredibly romantic and indeed the house was a joy to see (just happened that I'd unfortunately married a lune!) Smile
