I say they are from me. And I wrap them.
Santa brings all the other gifts. I need some credit.

gregssausageroll · 14/12/2010 11:31

I've got a box with tissue paper and christmas table confetti so it is partly wrapped.

I am going to leave it with my neighbour and ask her to ring the door bell around 5.30 and leave it outside so DH (who has no idea) can asnswer with DS for the surprise!

If anyone else has an idea for a 2.5 year old for my box I'd be grateful! So far jammies and slipper socks and Jim Carey's scrooge but that's it!

shirazplease · 14/12/2010 11:40

We also have her outfit for Christmas day, a bath set (bubble bath etc), reindeer food (oats & glitter in a freezer bag), candy cane and a kinder santa.

I can't wait to leave it for her, she's almost 4 and VERY much into the whole Christmas thing.

roastedfox · 14/12/2010 11:47

thanx! i have a box so maybe i'll pop everything in there. they will be so excited i can't wait Xmas Grin

gregssausageroll How about a little chocolate reindeer/santa or there is a lovely usborne christmas sticker book i got my three year old from John Lewis, or any christmas book really. The night before christmas?

gregssausageroll · 14/12/2010 11:49

Book - good idea and I'll take a bubble bath out of his stocking too.

THanks!

wonderstuff · 14/12/2010 11:54

Such a cute idea - dd's favorite birthday pressie was pjs Smile

dilbertina · 14/12/2010 11:54

The Magic Robin brings ours. He arrives when the decs go up and flies around each night and perches somewhere new so the dc have to find him each morning (unless mummy had too much wine the night before in which case he is very tired and stays in same place...!)

He watches the dc to see if they are good for Father Christmas. If they are extra good he gets all the robins in the garden to drop off a present on Christmas Eve (they just leave them on the doorstep). On Christmas Day the dc put out some bird food to say thanks.

Have I made this too complex do you think?! Xmas Grin

healthyElfy · 14/12/2010 12:26

We do a book and pyjamas and say they are from us. We watch a film but its not a dvd present, might be an old favourite.

TheSleepFairy · 14/12/2010 12:32

I put everything into a little wicker basket & then wrap that in cellophane & tie it up with a bow.

Ours come from the elves, I like the neighbour knocking idea though!! Last year I did manage to leave it downstairs & the girls found it just before their bath.

I love doing a christmas eve basket it just makes bed, bath & story before bed that little bit more special.

neverenoughMEtime · 14/12/2010 12:38

Ive wrapped up a pair of pajamas each for me and DD1, and a sleepsuit for DD2. Im going to leave the parcels on the mat in the hall so that when DD's and i come down on christmas eve morning we find them. I will tell DD that the elves left them for us and will act all suprised and delighted Grin

I did a little christmas eve hamper last year too but not doing it this year. Bought some hot chocolate, marshmallows and popcorn, and we'll watch a film that we already have. At bedtime we will read the night before christmas.

GroovyGretel · 14/12/2010 12:42

Oh Dilbertina how magical! I will definitely steal this for next year as we do talk about the magic robin. Lovely lovely idea.

petitdonkey · 14/12/2010 12:42

dilbertina - I like your style!!!

I've always just given them new PJs on Christmas Eve but I'm loving the idea of a special basket. You could put their stockings in ready to hang up too....

Anyone want to share this year's PJ selection? I haven't decided yet!

petitdonkey · 14/12/2010 12:48

On my shortlist:

these

these

love these but not sure if DS will be okay with having the same PJs as his sisters....

the traditional option with blue for DS

Any opinions?

ceebeegeebies · 14/12/2010 12:53

We do pyjamas & Totes socks for all 4 of us - I wrap them up in individual presents and leave them on each of our pillows whilst DH and the boys are in the bath together and say Santa has done an early delivery - not sure how long I can continue with this before DS1 starts questioning it - he is 4.5 now Wink

Iamcountingto3 · 14/12/2010 12:59

IN our house, there is a jingle of bells outside whilst the kids are in their bath. When the go to the door, there are two parcels with PJs in. The story is that FC came round, but saw they weren't in bed yet, so just left PJS.

We put them out a bit early, as the first year we did it ds was HUGELY impressed because the PJs were so cold "Straight from the North POle" he reckoned Xmas Smile

gregssausageroll · 14/12/2010 13:33

I LOVE this thread!

roastedfox · 14/12/2010 16:22

FestiveOrganisoid · 14/12/2010 16:29

The pjs come from me, and we have a box with them in as well as a dvd.

taintedsnow · 14/12/2010 18:23

Iamcountingto3, I love your DS's spirit! Straight from the North Pole indeed!

We are doing pyjamas. This is my first year of it, so I will make it special. Was just planning on having the PJs, but will now make a basket up. How lovely. Xmas Smile

AuntieMaggie · 14/12/2010 19:00

OMG this is so lovely... wish I had children!

MummyMyfanwy · 14/12/2010 19:06

The Christmas fairy comes and delivers gift wrapped christmas PJs on my girls beds sometime between tea time and getting ready for bed time.

I am a mug for still doing it as they are now 9 and 12yo but they love it.

My youngest asked me just the other day if the Christmas Fairy was still going to bring new PJS here in our new house. I dont think she actually believes it - but wants to carry on the tradition.Grin

ForFestiveSake · 14/12/2010 19:11

We just have them wrapped up and from me but I wish I could change to fc or elves or something but dd is 9 and is already doubting :(

Has anyone seen matching pj's for a 1 year old boy and 9 year old girl? I fancy the idea but can't find anything.

SantarissaCripslock · 14/12/2010 19:25

I started doing this last year. Someone on MN linked to a thread on the MSE forums about it and there were tonnes of ideas.

I put everything in a box and tie it up with a big ribbon. Last year we had snow and the DCs had made a snowman so we left it out there for them to find.

This year they have
Pyjamas
Bubble bath
Soap
Shampoo
Toothbrushes
Xmas socks
Xmas plates
Xmas cups
Sweeties
Hot chocolate
Marshmallows and malteasers for the hot choc
Xmas colouring books
Crayons
Xmas books
Xmas dvd

They'll get it after lunch on Christmas eve and it'll help keep them busy for the rest of the day - we'll snuggle up and watch the dvd with mugs of hot chocolate then time for drawing and colouring in before a bath and then into new pyjamas. Lovely.

We say our is from our DS2 (he was stillborn) and that it's his present to his brothers. It's a really nice, happy way to bring him into Christmas for all of us.
