Santarissa - that sounds such a lovely way of remembering your DS2!

4plus1 · 14/12/2010 19:42

Someone bought me one of those mugs with hot choc and a mini whisk so every time my dc have hot choc they fight over the mini whisk! I bought some more and some nice mugs with their names on. I'm going to do them up with some cellophane with choc buttons and some cookies.

Santarissa thats a beautiful way for your dc to remember their brother.

SmokinHowardDonald · 14/12/2010 19:45

Santarissa, thats lovely

I didnt realise it was a widely known tradition the PJs thing! Blush I started doing it with the boys on DS1s first Christmas.

We have fleecy Monster Truck PJs this year from Primark. Well DS1 & 2 do, I havent picked mine yet! I wrap them and leave them on their beds whilst they are in the shower, and say they are an early present from FC to make sure they are warm and snuggled in their beds and fast asleep so he can bring the toys.

I am soooooooooooooooooooo excited about Christmas this year Xmas Grin

I nicked an empty box from Asda Waitrose Wink and wraped it in Christmas paper.

So far in the box we have:
New pyjamas ( very cool ones for DS2 and these for DS1 )
Hot chocolate
Mashmallows and a flake (whipped cream already in the fridge Grin )
The Polar Express DVD
New hot water bottles
Gingerbread Christmas trees not yet in, but to go in on the day
Reindeer food

All I have to buy now is a lovely Christmas story for my boys (7 & 2), any ieas? :)

I am 25! And still get pj's to wear on Christmas eve. And so does my husband. My mum still claims they came from father christmas. And I still humor her. ( even if she hands them to me) she's a bit of a (lovely) freak

Hulababy · 14/12/2010 21:48

Christmas Fairy brings DD's new nightie/PJs. She drops them off at my parents house and leaves them wrapped up under their ree. hristmas fairy is making an early visit this year as we are seeing them this weekend instead of Chrostmas Eve this year.

kafkanightmare · 14/12/2010 21:55

Last year we left them by the back door so they were there when we came home from the carol service.

We put in PJs, reindeer food (porridge and glitter) and some sweets. Would like to include a DVD but would have to give it them earlier in the day as it will be too late when we get home.

I like the idea of giving them sticker books and pens at lunchtime. Might nick that for this year.

TeaOneSugar · 14/12/2010 21:55

DD's getting PJ's, bed socks, Lindt santa and reindeer set and a book, they're from me and DH so I've wrapped them.

She's also got a little present for DH and me under the little tree in her bedroom, so she has some gifts to hand out on christmas eve.

My PIL will be coming for dinner on christmas eve so she's got a little present under her tree for both of them, just a photo keyring each.

FestiveOrganisoid · 15/12/2010 13:17

Those that do all the extra things in with the pjs, what on earth do you put in the stockings?? My dc's stockings would be very empty if they didn't have the socks/bubble bath/toothbrushes/chocolate santa/stickers in Blush

fruitstick · 15/12/2010 13:53

I think the Christmas Eve thing has to be JUST things they need for Christmas Eve. (i.e. they don't need socks etc). Bubble bath maybe but I would class that as stocking filler.

I go for
PJs
Hot chocolate
Reindeer food
maybe some christmas biscuits.

SantarissaCripslock · 15/12/2010 14:11

Festive, my DCs stocking will have an annual, choc coins, a couple of small toys (lego night light, toy binoclulars type of thing), candy canes, marbles, pick up sticks, lipsyl, disposable camera (so they can do xmas day pics) and of course - a satsuma! Xmas Grin

I deliberately didn't buy huge stockings so that it doesn't take a lot to fill them.

sadiesadiemarriedlady · 15/12/2010 14:11

I always leave outside the door a hot chocolate Christmassy mug and pyjamas and get my children's Grandad to ring up and put on his special Father Christmas voice (which he does very well) and he tells the kids there is a little present outside, they then go and open the door and practically pop with happiness. Father Christmas also tells them to wear their special new pyjamas so that he knows where they are when he drops the extra special presents off later on when they are asleep. Magical.

Greenshadow · 16/12/2010 15:06

Been celebrating Christmas with children for 18 years now - but have never heard of this tradition before.
How long has this idea been around?
Did it come from the States like everything else or does it have origins elsewhere?

The children would have loved this, but I think a little late to start now... :(
