How many other people are buying gifts for your children?

Besides you and the child's other parent, I mean?

It's 4 for us: 2 grannies, a separate grandpa plus an uncle. I thought that was A LOT (it means an extra 12 items under the tree for the children) but I have a feeling it's on the low side compared to many?

my mum ,and my best friend and me thats it ;(

But been through lot of changes and life is so muc better for me and 4 dc this year

taintedpaint · 23/11/2010 15:59

A bloody tonne, I'm actually rather worried how much is going to be arriving. My DNephew (4) moved in with me this year, and people seem compelled to help me with his first Christmas here. Very sweet, but I feel he and I are going to drown in wrapping paper by midmorning. :)

gillybean2 · 23/11/2010 17:09

He gets 1 from me, the rest are from Santa...Hmm

Paternal Grandparents (usually send a box full - they live abroad and never get to see ds) - so estimate about 10 gifts from them
My parents x 1
Granny (my step siblings mum) x 1
aunties/uncles x 6
cousins x 2
friends x 3 (sometimes more)

I make that 24 plus Santa...
Tree is always burried!

nappyaddict · 28/10/2011 10:38

Grandma
2 x Grandad
Great-grandma
Great-nanny and grandad
My DP (not DS's dad and we don't live together so he usually gets him something just from him not from the both of us)
Aunty & Uncle
5 x Great Aunty & Uncle
Godmother
My godson's mum

Think that's it.

WhatWouldLeoDo · 28/10/2011 10:50

2 sets of GP's, 1 GG, 3 sets of Auntie/Uncles, I Great Aunt/Uncle, 1 cousin 2 godparents, 3 friends. DB's inlaws might send a wee something and another 2 or 3 cousins are likely to get something if we will be seeing them on Christmas or boxing day.

Blimey, that's a lot when you write it down!

BrainDeadSurgeon · 28/10/2011 10:54

Lots - big family. I'm feeling guilty about it, thinking of all the childern who get far less... :(
At least we are being a bit more sensible about parents this year and doing a Secret Santa type of thing, so we're only buying one present each.
I'll see how it goes this year and suggest we do something similar for the kids next year, or at least spend less on kiddies pressies, or gourp together for the bigger presents or something. I won't be popular though!

BrainDeadSurgeon · 28/10/2011 10:54

Doh! Group together not gourp! Grin

TheRealMrsHannigan · 28/10/2011 10:56

We have a very big family, those that I know are buying for DD are:

Nan & Grandad
Nan
6 Aunts
1 Uncle
2 of my cousins
2 family friends
Her childminder gets her a gift too.

oldraver · 28/10/2011 11:33

DS will get a few pressies from my parents his only GP's, some from my DB, some from my older DS, and he usually gets one from a neighbour. He also got one form another Uncle and Aunt last year.

olibeansmummy · 28/10/2011 11:56

My parents (mum buys lots including 'stocking fillers' but not in a stocking)
DH's parents
Dsis
SIL
1 set of grandparents
and my teenage brother who's also his Godfather.

MonsterCherry · 28/10/2011 21:05

my parents, my brother and my sister. 2 friends who will buy them a small gift each (usually up to £5) and the girls will get loads of tat from their dads family, but that stays at daddies house.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 28/10/2011 21:45

Too many! At least 8 at minimum with all siblings and friends. :)

DS is obviously not complaining!

Lisatheonewhoeatsdrytoast · 28/10/2011 21:50

Both Grandmothers, unfortunately me and DH lost our father's recently :(
My GrandParents 80yrs young Wink
My Cousin and Fiance
My Best Friend

and that's all :)

rhondajean · 28/10/2011 21:51

Im glad we arent the only ones with a small family buying for the children. I always feel I need to buy loads to make up for it.

We have:

MIL
GMIL
one uncle
one friend
and another friend who usually gets them a sweet/a nice notepad or another small token gift.

DD1 at 11 swaps presents with 2 or 3 school friends too.

RefereezaWanka · 28/10/2011 22:04

2 grandparents
3 aunties
Godmother
Elderly next door neighbours (bless them)

lilyj2010 · 28/10/2011 22:08

for my dd there would be my mum, my partners mum and dad, my brother (godfather), partners brother, godmother and partner, 5 great aunts and uncle, my friend who also recently had baby and 2 or 3 of my cousins with kids. This equals approx 13 others. However the only pressies i no that can really be relied upon are 2 or 3 of these, my mum, aunt and uncle and maybe godmother and godfather lol. Santa brings the rest

twolittledarlings · 28/10/2011 22:11

We are only a family of 4 and my mum who lives with us give my 2 dds money. My sister who lives abroad sends money.
My dh family gives them 4 presents each and our friends maybe another 9 each.

As its also their birthdays on 19th and 24th, they tend to get quite a lot from us. They normally choose 2 to open on their b/d and the rest on christmas day. This year they each get about 25 presents each and anther 7 to share (including a laptop).

Gosh, its sounds a lot but those 25 things are like slippers, calendar, pic frames, bag, friendship bracelets kits, more books, atm money box, pen pot, memo board, etc. The bigger things are more expensive so they share those.
As they don't have many family here, I do try to make up for it but it is their birthday too.

We don't really buy for adults. Only token gifts for each family. Though I do give to my mum and dh and my sister and her family.

Moblem · 28/10/2011 22:36

2 sets of grandparents
1 set of great grandparents
1 uncle
1 great aunt and uncle
1 set of godparents
2 sets of my friends and their families.

Moblem · 28/10/2011 22:37

Sorry, 2 sets of godparents

TeWihara · 28/10/2011 22:55

Between 4 and 7.

Generally quite small things. No-one goes crazy.

leftmydignityatthedoor · 29/10/2011 10:26

Dd and ds get presents from,

2 sets of grandparents
3 sets of aunties / uncles
3 great aunts
2 great great aunts
Ds from his godfather + godmother
Dd from ds godmother plus own godparents
Ds from dd godmother
My best friend
Friend from school for both kids

I THINK thjats it.
However, ds has his birthday at Xmas too - so all that again plus no doubt from all the kids at his p

leftmydignityatthedoor · 29/10/2011 10:27

P=party!

Where on earth is it all going to go????

Ds is almost 5, dd is 1.

Magneto · 29/10/2011 11:54

Ds has my mum, sister and MIL to buy presents for him. However at the insistence of her 6 schoolage children, MIL also buys him presents from them.

2 Grandmothers
1 Aunty
(plus MIL also buys him presents from his 4 Aunties and 2 Uncles who are still in school as they insist they must give him presents too!)

Ds also has 3 "adult" Uncles, aged between 20 and 18 who seem to think buying presents for anyone is still their mum's job, however their mum doesn't think so, therefore noone ever gets anything from them.

Magneto · 29/10/2011 11:55

crap I re-wrote my post but forgot to delete the first bit. I'm no good at mnetting today. Back to searching for Christmas stuff I go....
