Well we seem to have filled up the last one so I started a new one. Hope that is ok with everyone!

Jacaqueen - I finally remembered to have a look at my Angel Chime. It is small - about 10 inches tall. Very light metal. Easy to put together. Looks ok. Word of warning - was searching for who it was who asked me and came across a post from someone whose parents had one and it burnt their table! So they get v. hot.

jetli - here? they are premade tho don't know if you wanted to diy

please don't say you don't like them! I have loads up in a kind of inside mirroring outside thang

JetLi · 03/12/2010 17:39

Thanks taffeta - although I thought we'd seen a DIY version somewhere as well.

They are very lovely. I want my kitchen festooned with them a la Jamie Oliver's kitchen last year.

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 03/12/2010 18:14

I was very put out when I saw Jamie's kitchen having ordered them a month previously to his airing, he stole my thunder......

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 04/12/2010 10:00

A driftwood tree does sound very poncy.

Well we put our 'poncy homecraft' tree up yesterday and I have to say it does look better than even I had anticipated. It has croched snowflakes, knitted stockings, very glittered saltdough decorations, orange slices and peppermint candy canes (oh alright then the last came from sainsburys but everything else is homemade, honest guv'nor) AND, my original tree lights as I managed to get a bulb from ebay which while it does not work itself, joins the connections so the other 49 work.

The 'other' tree goes up in the lounge today and that will be baubled and tinselled to an inch of its life by the kids, and dh will have his flickering led lights on it. So we will all be happy. Xmas Smile

TealAndBiscuit · 04/12/2010 13:06

Phew! Real tree bought and decorated; artificial tree advertised on eBay. Am breathing poncetastic sigh of relief Xmas Smile

And it smells divine in here.

Of course all the decorations were bought with the silver tree in mind, so are a tad multi-coloured (let's call it retro), but all in all a vast improvement.

Blatherskite · 04/12/2010 20:11

No tree here until after DD's birthday on the 17th. Cannot wait!!

Quiltingmoomin · 05/12/2010 08:41

Finished the advent calendar (only 4 days late, ahem) - handsewn felt stars hanging on a pom pom garland - you hang a star a day...am feeling very smug indeed Xmas Grin - [http://www.flickr.com/photos/27280771@N03/5232997534/ here]] it is! Doing decorations today and maybe the tree...

Quiltingmoomin · 05/12/2010 08:42

trumpton · 05/12/2010 08:54

better link

Quiltingmoomin · 05/12/2010 09:12

Liking them trumpton although I can see me festooned with little bits of sellotape!
Thanks McPonce, its turned out better then I was expecting - there were a few false starts!!

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 05/12/2010 16:04

Quiltingmoomin - that is very beautiful

Clever lady, you are Xmas Grin

Quiltingmoomin · 06/12/2010 18:44

Well, my pontastic Christmas tree plans are in tatters. We've got a lovely tree but no baubles!! My bag of family decorations has gone AWOL in the loft. I'm not hanging anything else until we find them...DH should be up the ladder tonight but he's down the pub at the moment so methinks he'll be a little unsteady to go loft tripping. Tree decorating will be postponed in the Moomin household I fear Xmas Sad

Blatherskite · 06/12/2010 21:32

So fellow ponces...when are we marzipanning the cakes?

BelovedCunt · 06/12/2010 21:35

oh can i join, i am crocheting my own decorations and have lino printed my cards.

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 06/12/2010 21:44

Marzipanning tomorrow, if Ocado can get up the icy hill. Xmas HmmWe always start our cake before Christmas Day, I like offering it to visitors. I like shocking people. Some of my friends are horrified we start it before Christmas, but from experience, it never gets eaten otherwise!

Likewise, we always have a party before Christmas. Our friends always eat and drink more before rather than after, and one feels a better host if one's guests are trollied enjoying the hospitality. Xmas Grin

Quilting - I do hope your decorations have been unearthed. They are so precious, aren't they?

Anyone see PhilnKirstie?

optimisticmumma · 06/12/2010 22:34

I have been lurking since part 1 but only now can 'come out' as a fellow ponce...

I have:
made Christmas Chutney and put 'Noel' ribbon round each jar.
handmade my Christmas cards
have burned through a large 'Winter' candle ALREADY!!
made Delia's Christmas pud

I will have two real Christmas trees...

Do I qualify??

Oh and I run a Christmas a cappella choir!!

Bucharest · 07/12/2010 09:40

Bumping as we're slipping.

I'm listening (unashamedly I tell ya') to il Divo again.Xmas Grin

My oranges and cloves are on the radiator (did smell lovely, but have just spruzzed oven with toxic oven cleaner so cloveyorangey loveliness has disappeared a bit)

SantaPawz · 07/12/2010 10:02

about the clovyoranges, how often do you replace them? How many do you have?

Mine seems to have "lost" the smell, either that or I have become used to the loveliness and can't smell them anymoreXmas Sad

TealAndBiscuit · 07/12/2010 10:13

Eek, I marzipanned my cakes last week - will they be vile by Christmas?

Bucharest · 07/12/2010 10:50

Teal- no, they'll be fine. The (very few) years when my Mum and I got round to doing ours earlier, they were fine.

Ohhh, Kirsty Mc Coll now. Must go and squawk along.

Santa- I only did mine the other day (I have 3 full size oranges) Dp (who is a philistine) says it "smells like a dentist in here") Have you got them somewhere warm?

Blatherskite · 07/12/2010 11:32

You need to marzipan them at least a week before you want to ice and then leave them unwrapped to let it dry out Teal, they'll be fine.

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 07/12/2010 14:31

optimistic - you run a Christmas a cappella choir? That about as poncetastic as it comes. Xmas Grin

Teal - your cakes will be lovely. I find the marzipan and icing help preserve further.

I made my poncetastic Cranberry and Orange compote yesterday - needs a few weeks for alcohol flavours to blend. I make extra and give a few jars to the favoured few.

This week, I need to make pineapple sorbet, marzipan the cake, make and freeze the stuffing and Sunday Oh! Sunday is tree day. Can't wait! Have my fabulosa Maroq Christmas lights up in the kitchen on a long shelf, interspersed with giant silvered allium heads, just need some garden greenery in amongst to set it off.

Also need to make the clovey oranges with the DC. Its sounding like to get maximum scent you need a radiator - what do I do if we have underfloor heating? Please don't say put them on the floor - the kitten would maul them.

optimistletoemumma · 07/12/2010 19:20

hanks taffata - obviously I can only 'out' myself on here....Grin
