Playmobil magic castle or other (hopefully cheaper) plastic castle type thing - any recommendations?

does anyone have the magic castle? Is it any good? Does your child like it/play with it?

They are shockingly expensive so wanted so feedback before I part with my ££££

Or can anyone recommend another hopefully cheaper castle age 4+ ? :)

What about this?
Looks good and half price as well.

Or this

DD has the Magic Castle. It took me all afternoon to put together but it's really robust. It's a real hit with all of DD's little friends. I would definitely recommend. Just to warn you, the room sets are extra.

Thanks for your replies :)
I don't think DD would like the first castle asdx and the 2nd one looks a bit young for her.

Unfortunately DD would probably like something very tacky plastic and colourful Grin Although she does like the Playmobil one...

I didn't realise you had to buy the room sets, that makes it even more expensive...oh dear

Anyone else recommend a cheap plastic colourful castle?

I got a playmobile fairy castle thing for dd (4) last year. She has played with it, but all the little fiddly bits have long since gone up the hoover disappeared. I didn't realise there would be so many little tiny bits when I bought it, and I'm not sure it was the best for dd, who is fairly destructive at the best of times!

AcrylicAfternoons · 08/11/2010 23:03

Yes the tiny bits worry me too - and at that price they're too expensive to end up as hoover fodder :)

The only other princess castle thing I've found is a disney one for £50 here

but

a) it's hideous (although DD would probably not think so
b) it looks cheap and flimsy for the price, but at least it's cheap than playmobil one

What about the ELC? They have a fairy castle and some reasonably sturdy fairies/ unicorns etc (sturdy seems the wrong word for fairies, but however!)

Bit pricey, but does come with free fairies. Maybe a bit big?

Ah that one's really nice Jooly...I defintely want something along those lines. But yes it's too big, I was hoping for something that could be tidied away onto a shelf or but in a toy box. We have a tiny house and DD's room is quite small.

Just noticed they also do a happyland one on the same page (similar toys, scroll down) It's only £20 and looks a lot more put-away-able!

Tikkabillajive · 09/11/2010 13:34

We have a tiny house too - which is already full of Playmobil and I was resisting the princess stuff - but DD was given this, which seems to have satisfied the need for pink and princessy Playmobil (although the princess is currently driving the fire engine, with several father christmases as crew members Hmm).

You could maybe add to it with a room set from the castle. DD seems quite happy to have this without having a big castle to put it all in!
