Thankyou mumsnet for creating a new board. I look forward to sharing faith and hope in Jesus. Maybe let's start with a verse for encouragement to share.

Mine is from 2 Corinthians 6.

For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”

Great news! I’ll be hanging around. I’m currently not part of a Christian community so it will be handy for me to a have place to chat about my faith.

FuzzyPuffling · 16/10/2024 11:14

Hurrah! So pleased we have this new board.
Blessing to all.

onetwothreehello · 16/10/2024 15:48

Pleased too! Thanks Mumsnet! Incidentally where do we find this board on the topics list ( I just clicked on the link from the Philosophy/Religion thread about the new board)?

onetwothreehello · 16/10/2024 17:09

Ah, I can see this board under 'Other Stuff' on the website but not my app.

DeanElderberry · 16/10/2024 17:32

This is the day the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad.

Thanks MNHQ

FuzzyPuffling · 16/10/2024 17:42

I found us in the alphabetical list of boards.

MovingCrib · 16/10/2024 17:50

Fabulous! Thanks MN. Hello to you all. I'm in London on holiday at the moment and popped into Westminster Abbey to say a prayer and light a candle yesterday.

MovingCrib · 16/10/2024 17:50

I hope @Dutchoma is lurking!

MovingCrib · 16/10/2024 17:58

Would it be okay if I shared one of my favourite prayers, that I find comforting at night (rather than a Bible verse)?

It's from Cardinal Newman:

May the Lord support us all the day long,
Till the shades lengthen and the evening comes,
and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over,
and our work is done.
Then in his mercy may he give us a safe lodging,
and holy rest, and peace at the last.

Amen.

Moier · 16/10/2024 18:03

I think this is Proverbs.

As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.

DeanElderberry · 16/10/2024 18:04

Thank you @MovingCrib - I have heard that before, most recently at the end off Mass a few weeks ago, and I didn't know who it was by.

Is your name a reference to the moving crib the Dominicans used to have in Parnell Street in Dublin, or another one?

FuzzyPuffling · 16/10/2024 18:06

I love...( and find strengthening)

Courage for the big things, patience for the small
Be of good cheer, God is awake.
Amen

IntoTheArk · 16/10/2024 18:10

Oh this is fantastic news!

T4phage · 16/10/2024 18:28

Surprising I have to say. Hopefully it will remain a safe space in which to share our thoughts and experiences.

Yes!!! My beloved Granny used to take me in to see it. I grew up in Dublin.

I didn't realise it was the Dominicans so thanks for that!

I love this prayer:

The Unity Prayer

My adorable Jesus,
May our feet journey together.
May our hands gather in unity.
May our hearts beat in unison.
May our souls be in harmony.
May our thoughts be as one.
May our ears listen to the silence together.
May our glances profoundly penetrate each other.
May our lips pray together to gain mercy from the Eternal Father.

DeanElderberry · 16/10/2024 18:39

I loved it so much - no idea is it still there. The religious bits, the joyous non-religious 'Bethlehem on December 24th, year 0', and Fred the dog.

FloralGums · 16/10/2024 22:37

So great - thanks MN.
My personal circumstances mean I can’t get to church as often as I’d like. I also can’t go to any house groups so it will be nice to have an online area to discuss things.

LorettyTen · 16/10/2024 22:46

@jellymaker
Thank you, I love that verse

LorettyTen · 16/10/2024 22:48

Philippians 4

4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

StarlitBeauty · 16/10/2024 22:53

Thanks Mumsnet 🙌

DeanElderberry · 17/10/2024 07:30

A prayer from childhood that I started using regularly during Covid, only to find, when we all started meeting again, that I wasn't the only one. Just in case you need a defender.

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.

FerminRomeroDeTorres · 17/10/2024 07:46

Thanks Mumsnet. Also hoping this remains a safe space for us to talk about our faith openly without hostility.

MovingCrib · 17/10/2024 07:56

@DeanElderberry it is still open - I've just looked. Opens 28 Nov for Christmas. I don't remember as much as you - it's been 45 years since I've been!

DurhamDurham · 17/10/2024 08:00

I'm here to learn, in a positive and non judgmental way with you. I hope that's ok? I have struggled to verbalise my feelings around my religion but I am a Christian.
