She has always been picky. But she's always had a few things she'd eat - a bit of cheese, a few bites of bread pasta, the odd sausage roll, chicken risotto - and chocolate. As much choc as she can get her hands on. Recently she's started totally rejecting risotto, sausage rolls, cheese. She likes to chew food then spit it into my hand. It is absolutely infuriating. I try her with all my food - rejected or spat out. The other day she had a little of my bacon and egg. But it is as if she eats a little every few days rather than every day. She is small. She drinks a bit of milk and breastfeeds at night. But what can I do now she is reducing her diet and food choices further? I give her a vitamin/iron supplement. I am really tearing my hair out at her total lack of interest in food.

But chocolate - she just wants it all the time. Aaaargh.

you poor thing, it sounds horrid for you and the rest of the family. re the spitting, dd1 went through a stage of this, and i later felt that it was because her glands were swollen because of molars coming through. it does sound like it's maybe become a bit of a game, but these things can start with good reason, especially if she's still enjoying soft foods that slip down the throat, such as chocolate.

i'd agree, though, that if she's asking for it, ye cannae huv it ben the hoose. although we are intending to use up our easter eggs next week with a fruit fondue, that's our big treat plan.

Thanks Aitch. We've just got home from being in Ireland for a few months and for some reason she's eating much better last night and today. Hope it continues. She tried to spit out a mouthful on the ferry though - I said no and took away my hand but we didn't want her to spit on the floor of the ferry so dh caught it in a cup as it came out. Then I said 'No' very firmly. So maybe she'll get the message.

Thanks for that website Angel - I'll be using that.
