I am feeling very out of control & unsure about what to do with regard to DD not being able to see (which might or might not be psychological). Should I:

a) See GP about DD' sight & ask for:
i) a referral or a second opinion (who - Big local hospital or Moorfields)?
ii) a referral to an OT?
iii) something else?
b) wait until mid April & see current hospital again?
c) Speak to the CAMHS person to see what they think?
d) something else

did you see this one??

Easter starts next Thursday - I do think they are less attentive now (I mean why should they have to run around after her/read to her/help her with stuff - it isn't really her friends job)

The long-term is being dealt with by the sensory support team (I hope)

The school has a legal obligation to provide schooling for your daughter insofar as they have the resources to provide a teaching assistant to help with moving from class to class, and taking notes in lessons, with the consideration that this is a temporary condition.

In my case, when my child couldn't see, she was not allowed to be in school sightless without an adult to be in charge of her, as the school is liable if she falls down a step etc, even if her friends were leading her around. If the staffing ratios don't allow a one-on-one helper, then there's little more the school can do, other than engage as much provision from the Sensory Support team as possible or provide the work for your daughter to do and it be done at home.

I was lucky enough to be able to go in and be with my child at school and do the lessons with them, when these symptoms were happening to them. But the school is in a cleft stick, as are a family trying to deal with this situation.

So I guess DD's school is really being quite generous letting her attend at all

katy, sorry to hear things are still so bad for DD.

I work in psychiatry, and psychiatry/psychology would NEVER accept a referral for any sort of somatoform disorder without a really extensive physical workup, which your poor DD has not had. TO do otherwise would be frankly dangerous.

Really hope you start to get things moving soon.

Pixie - take chocolate/make-up/magazines/new DS game (not sure which will turn your DD on )

Martha - I think it is because I was already seeking support (from 'family support') for DD as she has had several difficult situations to deal with - so when this presented we bounced straight to a psychologist (without passing 'Go') as the assummption is that loosing her sight (in itself) is enough to need this level of support.
Of course I could have completely misunderstood the situation

Which DS did you get? - DD just bought herself a brown DS XL (I think)

The 9th

I am going to have to consider hw I manage my job for the short term - in the next 3 weeks I have 9 appointments to attend with dd - as the owner/manager I need to consider the health of my business as well

It is tricky tbh - a valued member of staff is leaving this week & we are therefore already slightly short staffed - add in DD's appointments and it will be very hard

But I won't take on anyone who isn't up to our standards >
