Just wondering how your dd's vision is? Any improvement?

Thanks for asking chipmonkey

There hasn't been any improvement - some deterioration but not much

We saw a psychologist today, I wasn't expecting miracles but I also wasn't expecting to be present; I didn't really get to say much

The lady at the NBCS said she thought DD should have had more tests (brain scans & her optic nerve checked) & we might need a better referral

I think we need to see an occupational therapist so we can learn how to deal with it

I just keep bursting into tears

Lulumaam · 19/03/2010 19:31

I was lurking on your other thread, and just want to say I hope things settle and we are all rooting for you and your DD xxx

Well she took double for about 4 days & it calmed down (so she will take double for another 4 days)

Sigh

thisisyesterday · 19/03/2010 19:45

sorry there has been no improvement katymac. it's good that they want more tests though

how did she feel about seeing the psychologist?

Katymac · 19/03/2010 20:00

Well the hospital is intending no more tests but the lady on the helpline thinks there should be more

She has been asking to 'talk' to someone for ages now so was quite OK with it - but didn't like me being there & also didn't like 'going' to talk to someone. When she was bullied someone came to the house & that was better

thisisyesterday · 19/03/2010 20:19

ah i see, so can you push for more? i'd hace thought brain scans and optic nerve ought to have been done already??

do you have more visits to the psychologist? is it an ongoing thing? she'll get used to "going" to it i'm sure

Katymac · 19/03/2010 20:27

Yes - we go again after Easter

She will be fine with going

No idea - this is all a bit ad-hoc for me; nothing has been planned/booked/discussed

I have no idea of what they expect of DD or I nor do I know what to expect of them

Katy, I really would think they should have thoroughly checked the optic nerve and done brain scans. I would certainly be pushing for this and maybe getting another opinion.

Katymac · 19/03/2010 20:55

Do you know how they would check it out

Could it have happened without my knowing?

Katymac · 19/03/2010 20:56

I guess Pixie, but I would have hoped for some sort of SLA/programme/plan

I guess

They didn't take any information or details at all - I thought they would like a background

They made a big thing of my control-freakery

Not while running a successful business.......it needs control-freakery

& DD is trying to control me as well alongside DH with his Virgo everything has to be 'just so'

Poor child was always destined to be a manager/organiser

I think there was something about being ill all the time
& the cat dying, getting the new cats, the new cat getting hurt & wee-ing on her computer

She was writing things into a bag - but her

Katymac · 19/03/2010 21:27

well keep the control-freakery for the business, and stop it for the family! lol

it's hard isn't it. i am a big control freak and i'm not sure it's a good thing. am trying to stop myself but it's hard.

I expect they're jsut getting to know her before they formulate any kind of plan. maybe they find it works with children just to go with the flow and listen to what they give and not be structured in any way?

nickschick · 19/03/2010 21:40

Katy you have had to be controlling your dh is ill your health isnt great and you run a business thats how you become succesful.

Your control freakery will help your dd recover cos you will fight tooth and nail to get her the help she needs.

I think that if school hadnt been pressuring you and her about time off when she was ill she may have had a better recovery and rested a bit more.

poor you,dh and definitely dd xx
