Just wondering how your dd's vision is? Any improvement?

There is a good website physiohypervent.org.uk which has lots of info about hvs. You could look and see whether you think it would explain some of her symptoms. Very few Drs would spot it as it's not fully accepted by all medics. I treat people with it regularly and they all improve with support, education and some hard work on their part.

Katymac · 21/03/2010 09:10

Thanks Northender, I'll get DH to have a look

chipmonkey · 21/03/2010 14:08

Katy, I am so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you! And it may very well be all psychological but the docs should have the complete picture before they come to that conclusion. And maybe it was a virus back then particularly if her immune system was a bit low.

KatyMac, sorry to hear about your dd. has she been checked for diabetes? Sudden loss of vision happened to someone I worked with and then she was diagnosed with diabetes. The neuropathy could also be linked to diabetes.
As your dd is on steroids/meds, sometimes the symptoms are not clear cut, I'd say she needs a thorough testing, inc mri.

Katymac · 21/03/2010 18:06

Chipmonkey - I wasn't scared exactly, it was just something else to consider.

I'm struggling with some people telling me she is putting it on and others saying to get more tests as she couldn't put it on for this long.

Katymac · 21/03/2010 18:14

Sorry Nightcat - I was thinking about stuff while I posted so I didn't see yours; Thanks for the suggestion, I am intending on getting the GP to refer for further tests maybe at the bigger hospital

nightcat · 21/03/2010 18:19

another thought, has your dd had any immunisations recently? That could have put additional stress on her health.
You need to get to the bottom of it, because there could well be something that you could do, I would be very worried that the longer it goes on, the harder it could be to reverse?.. Don't give up and good luck tomorrow.
[We were once denied a referral for my ds, and had to go privately, after which we were immediately reinstated in NHS for a life long-condition - the first dr was so so wrong]. GPs are no experts in rare stuff, so keep on until you have some answers.

I've been reading this but tbh it doesn't help much

She had her flu, swine flu & hepatitis (not sure which one - we went to Jamaica) but they were all in the autumn

We were talking today

There is still no colour, the kaleidoscope vision has reduced to just double vision - so just 2 pictures of everything only a few cms apart/overlayed & the blurriness is worse

No - the GP advised against it. But I know what you mean. At the hospital the tested her eye and suggested short-sightedness which she would need glasses for about (is it minus?) 1 on one eye & .5 on the other which is a tiny prescription

It's 3 weeks today since we first went to casualty; with the best will in the world she couldn't pretend for 3 weeks - no reading, very little DS (only when her friends are round), no computer (our attempt at Dragn didn't work), TV with audio description......very little cookery. She couldn't have kept it up that long imo - she is a terrible liar/actress

Tomorrow we will be dropping her at a friends house

I am desperately unhappy about it all - I keep bursting into tears

DD is even feeling guilty to be causing me such upset

Monday is such a bad day at work I won't be able to make a phone call or anything so it will be Tuesday before I can do anything

I feel so powerless and ineffectual - I can't fix it; I can't do anything

We have an appointment on 13th.....I don't think I can wait that long - plus no promises of tests

My mum & dad are on holiday (only 5 days but it's probably not helping)

DH doesn't do that sort of thing it's my job

Sorry Pixie - it's all a it much on top of everything else

How are those babies?

I get that....but they aren't mine; with DH being Jamaican we sometimes get looks as to haw we manage the colour distribution of the children we have with us - joys of childminding

You shouldn't be messing around here - you need your rest

I didn't think I could wait 3 weeks but I wasn't sure if I was being unreasonable

The GP is the way to go I think
