ds2 has been poorley since he was born, bad reflux and digestion problems that they still dont know what it is but cant be anything bad as he is getting better. Anyway he has always woken average 3 times a night after going down around 7pm. I knew this was always down to the reflux and his tummy problems and a sleep study with lh study showed night wakings were down to refluxing. Amyway he is getting alot better and i dont think his reflux is causing him to wake. The paed said he thinks it is a behaviour problem that is common in children with these problems as the body is used to waking up in the night and he cant help it. Despite me doing controlled crying etc (something i cant carry on with as causing probs with ds1 sleep who is on melatonin at mo) i cant get him to sleep through. Paed said to not let him nap in the day but i see that as cruel as he obv still needs to nap.

Anyone??

oh i see. Well he eats lumps that are finger foods ok? And im probably not being very clear about eating stage 1 food, i meant he will have say rice and then has pureed veg as the sauce mixed in it so he doesnt eat just puree food.

They are supposed to be arranging allergy tests...

That sounds better . It's important to have a good range of tastes and textures in the first year. They become so much harder to introduce after that.

I hope they come up with something conclusive for him and something that can be treated.

Good luck for Thursday. Let us know how you get on.

well we just about made it there and back! He is having his adenoids out, possibly tonsils but he doesnt want to do that just yet because of his age. Guess will just have to see what happens..

Glad you made it. Hope things improve for you/DS. My DS had a horrid choking episode last night with sick all out of his nose. He really struggled to breathe before it all came out. Makes me more nervous in the snow too in case he chokes so bad I need ambulance (has once before).

Ds2 is a reflux boy (as was ds1) he is now 3.8yrs. Have only just removed the bed blocks!

Am glad they are seeming to do something with taking your son's adenoids out.

Ds2 still has an anyway up cup in his bed (well it is on a bedside table now) but always had it in his cot. He drinks lots of water in the night because of his reflux but then he figured it out when he was quite little that water helped sooth his throat. He used to wake 1 hour after going to sleep with the reflux, that seemed to be the most painful one, later wakings are eased by the fact he has drank lots of water since going to bed.

Thinking back, I know that ds2 didn't sleep through the night until he was over the age of 2. Sorry, I know this doesn't help you. Early to bed for you to help you deal with it.

Ds2 gags when he blows his nose or even just puts food into his mouth that he is trying. I don't know whether the reflux and the gagging are linked but both my two boys gag very easily. If they gag a few times they chuck up their entire stomach contents. Always a joy, I can clear a restaurant in 30 seconds
