4 month old screaming

My 4 month old DD is generally a happy baby who sleeps well and is growing ok. She's exclusivley BF and generally only cries when over tired. However recently she has started screaming (all of a sudden the same cry as when she gets her injections) about once a day. I had to pull the car over yesterday as she was inconsoluable- it takes ages to settle and she doesn't sleep after (which is how i know she's not over tired). I always check her for any injuries when she cries like this as I'm convinced shes in pain.

She is showing signs of teething- red nappy area, drowling and red cheeks. However the cry is so sudden. Any ideas? Should I take her to the doc's?

I would not accept that the cry you child gets at its injections is a normal reaction. If the cry is very high pitch and the child is inconsolable and will not stop for long periods, thats not normal.

You need to see a doctor and you need to inform yourself about vaccines and the side effects.

I would also put off any further vaccinations until you are at the bottom of this problem. A word of warning, doctors and health visitors will never admit any problems with vaccines.

Its by a NHS GP who is brutally honest about vaccines, he is not anti-vaccine but he is more truthful than most, also check out the vaccine section on mumsnet, you will find alot of info there.

If you child is otherwise well, I would wait until you get a GP's appointment. Its very difficult with babies this young and I really cant advise you medically, I can only advise you to take control of your childs health and if you are not happy then to seek help. You are obviously not happy about the situation and a mothers instincts are usually right. If you child has a prolonged fit of high pitch crying with no obvious cause, or displays any of the signs of severe illness I would go to A&E. If you child is well and feeding well then I would go and see a GP. And like I said, i would educate youself about vaccines and the risks associated with them.
