nigglewiggle · 01/07/2009 21:50

Sounds more like heat rash if there are no other symptoms. Ring NHS Direct.

wrinklytum · 01/07/2009 21:50

Ring nhs direct for advice.

sunburntats · 01/07/2009 21:50

check list

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 01/07/2009 21:52

Are they like bruises or little red spots?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 01/07/2009 21:53

check list here

whomovedmychocolate · 01/07/2009 21:54

If the rash is blanchable (ie it fades) it probably is heat rash.

Hope she's okay

BCNS · 01/07/2009 21:55

Bald.. you list is clearer than mine..

IkeaHighchair · 01/07/2009 21:57

There are other causes of a non blanching rash. But you DO need to rule out meningitis.

It doesn't sound like meningitis as the rash is normallty a late symptom so they are usually unwell by then.

I think that the first thing NHS direct will say is 999 or A&E.

If you cannot get yourself to a walk-in centre/A&E I think you might be calling an ambulance - for peace of mind if nothing else.

I do think it is an over-reaction, but I think it is probably the best course of action if you have no way to get to Walk-in/A&E.

madwomanintheattic · 01/07/2009 21:58

taxi?

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 01/07/2009 21:59

You don't need to have all the symptoms for it to be meningtis.

Phone nhs direct or your local a & e.

I hope she is okay.

Disenchanted3 · 01/07/2009 22:01

DH is down, did glass again, still not completely going

no other sympoms at all

does heat rash dissapear completely under glass or fade a bit?

OP posts:
FabBakerGirlIsBack · 01/07/2009 22:03

it should go white under the glass

aristocat · 01/07/2009 22:03

phone nhs direct.
better to be sure - hope DD ok.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 01/07/2009 22:05

IIRC, meningitis rashes are more like a bruise, either purple or red. The child is always very ill, call NHS direct, they are better at this then MN. Hope all is OK

JudyBlume1019 · 01/07/2009 22:05

don't do glass test, I don't get it, but press and pull the skin and it should blanch the rash, by blanching, yes, disappear altogether, although only momentarily

Disenchanted3 · 01/07/2009 22:05

arghgot other gass, bigger one and is fading under it, completly going i mean,

i feel sick

am still going to pop gps tomorrow but rash is def goingf away under a 'tumbler' glass instead of crappy wine glass.

feedthegoat · 01/07/2009 22:06

My ds had a rash that didn't fade but no other symptoms and dashed to emergency drs who reckoned kids can sometimes get a rash like this on legs and tummy if have been particularly active and running around. I rang NHS direct at the time and they said any rash like that must be checked by Dr though.

Disenchanted3 · 01/07/2009 22:06

on't think i was pushing the glass enough

OP posts:
FabBakerGirlIsBack · 01/07/2009 22:06

Judy - the glass test is standard and always recommended.

misdee · 01/07/2009 22:06
