I think she should go to school as she isn't that ill

So I have said if she decides to stay off she can
Stay in her bedroom
No TV
No DS
No visits downstairs to see the childminded children

She (& her dad) has said I am being mean - I think it's an acceptable compromise as I think being at home is 'easier' than being at school

btw she is 1 & in Yr6

Well she has done 4 poops since 8 am so maybe I am being a bit hard on her

But she still has to stay in her room

Fair enough. You should let her have telly/radio/nice books etc though, and keep checking her. If she's really unwell, a bit of TLC without it just being a mooch at home under your feet is the way to go, I reckon. You sound frustrated and at a bit of a loss though- perhaps you need to recharge a bit yourself? I need to go to work now (much as I'd love not to ), but I hope you feel a bit better about all this soon.

I agree with staying in room, so she doesn't pass anything on to mindees. But since she's genuinely not well enough for school I would let her have TV or DS. Is she unhappy at school? IIRC she had problems with bullying in the past.

Agree with Totalchaos. I used to be really tough on dd when she was off sick, but then realised I was punishing her for my insecurities: it was my job to decide when she was too ill to go and once I had decided, it was hardly fair to blame her if I wasn't happy with the decision.

Now she is in secondary, she has more of an input- and is off less frequently. Also, I trust her secondary school to send her home if really ill: I had good reasons not to trust her junior school!

I do go to bed if I am ill. So i get better sooner
