Vomiting, tummy pain and private pain

DS 10 woke up in the early hours of Sunday vomiting we thought was just a 24/48 hour bug and he’s been off form and feeling sorry for himself. He’s laid on the couch most of the day has been drinking lucozade sport hasn’t kept much of it down. He had a slice of toast last night and that came back up about an hour or so later. He told me this morning he had a little problem trying to wee and had to force it out. I have gotten him an out of hours GP appointment at 9pm. I noticed he was walking a bit funny but though he was mucking about. He’s not vomiting as much but has lots of dry retching.

He now tells me his privates hurt, everything looks okay there but it hurts a the pain goes down his left leg and up to the left side of his tummy. I’ve given him calpol and a hot water bottle over his PJs to see if it helps. The weird thing is he doesn’t have a fever

im in two minds weather we just take him to A&E or wait 3 hours for the GP

has he been started on antibiotics whilst they figure out what exactly is going on? Thinking of you and your son

Realisation14 · 19/03/2026 02:57

I would really be pushing for antibiotics to be started to cover all bases. I really feel for you both x

Poor lad ... it sounds as though he is really going through it. What a worry for you all ... sending a handhold.

Thank you I have asked for them to check him again because he is crying his privates and neck hurts a lot. He’s vomited all over himself a the bed. The nurses and hca has been so good to us making him try relax during this horrendous time

Be explicit in what you ask them. Could this be meningitis? Could it be sepsis? Ask when a doctor last checked him over. It's not being pushy, it's important.

What a horrible situation for you and him.

MuireannOg · 19/03/2026 17:12

He’s doing much the same he is very sleepy after the camera test. He is on a drip with antibiotics, pain killers and something to help his tummy. They have found an ulcer in his tummy. The doctor came last night and give him some morphine and didn’t think he needed another scan. I did ask them about sepsis but they said it’s not but he has an infection

Hi OP, how has your son been overnight and today? I really hope they’ve got to the bottom of it for him and he’s being treated. Such a worry.

Cece92 · 20/03/2026 20:37

I know they probably checked but could it be his appendix? My friends 5 year old had his out Tuesday, he had stomach pain vomiting and said his balls hurt.

pollydollydoodlealltheway · 20/03/2026 20:41

Your poor boy, you must be worried sick. Sending positive vibes xx

Clafoutie · 20/03/2026 21:17

Sending thoughts to you, this sounds awful for you both. Hang in there Flowers

MuireannOg · 21/03/2026 05:35

He’s doing okay. It’s been a long few days and I don’t know where the end is. He’s not eating or drinking yet they said maybe Monday for drinking and see how he goes from there he has loads of drips. He still feels sick but hasn’t been sick today or yesterday. He is still getting waves of pain in his privates but they have stopped checking him which has annoyed 🤬 me this can’t be normal for his age to have so much pain there!! They won’t allow a hot water bottle either just something to try give him comfort. He’s been very up and down today

they took some samples from his tummy and they’ll be back maybe tomorrow. We are both very tired

Realisation14 · 22/03/2026 08:23

Have they still no clue what's causing this op?

Lochroy · 23/03/2026 09:33

Still thinking of you and your son, OP.

MuireannOg · 23/03/2026 23:05

They have said it’s a stomach ulcer. He’s been vomiting again today so they said they’d do a Camara up his bum tomorrow to check his lower gastrointestinal system. He’s lost 1.1KG since getting here

I’m so sorry this sounds incredibly upsetting and worrying for you. I remember my primary aged son having to have surgery for a hydrocele in one testicle after being blue lighted to hospital - so scary. This doesn’t sound like the same thing though, just empathizing - I hope they manage to help him properly soon.

MuireannOg · 24/03/2026 17:05

He Is still vomiting please help me why I don’t know

cestlavielife · 24/03/2026 19:22

Villanousvillans · 24/03/2026 19:22

Poor little boy. I’m so sorry op, this is awful. 💐

MabelAnderson · 24/03/2026 19:22

Gosh OP this does sound very distressing. I hope you get answers soon as to why the sickness isn’t calming down. I very much hope he is on the mend soon and not in pain.

Lochroy · 24/03/2026 20:36

PP are right about asking for a second opinion. Wishing you both well.

Mischance · 24/03/2026 21:11

That is very useful information about Martha's rule. I hope the OP will find this helpful.
Did he have the endoscopy today as planned?
I do hope they are communicating with you. I can understand why you are so worried. It is very hard seeing your child so unwell.
