Whilst strictly not a child’s health question, it could be…

dd 10, has size 13/1 (uk sizing) feet. She’s about average maybe a little above height and build so not small for her age but her feet seem to be! She says she has the smallest feet in the class - I guess they compare!

what size were your girls at 10. Also did when did their feet stop growing?

I have large feet for a female (7/8) so she doesn’t get it from however my partner her dad is only a size 7 which is small for a man I guess.

to add she does have some issues including hyper mobility and low muscle tone, she can be clumsy and has spatial awareness issues but I don’t think that her shoe size is responsible for her spatial awareness issue. I was told that her feet will grow rapidly when her flat feet corrected - which they have but no rapid growth, if anything quite slow growth (means I don’t have to spend out shoes too often 😂)

She is seeing an OT for a dcd (dyspraxia) assessment in the next few weeks so I plan to ask about her height to shoe size ratio as obviously smaller size feet often mean a child is also pretty petite. Length wise she’s in 12/13 and even 13/14 clothing.

She hasn’t seen a professional for quite a few years about her motor skill issues either so not been able to ask. She was signed off physio quite a few years ago. Finally got a dyspraxia assessment coming up!

Wish my dds were that small, she’s 8 and a size 3 🤣

thegirlwithapearl · 04/10/2025 20:14

My 10 year old has size 3/4 shoes.

justabigdisco · 04/10/2025 20:15

My just turned 10 year old is short for her age and she’s a size 2.

That was me at that age! 😂 she didn’t get the small foot gene off me or the females on my side for sure! My grandmother is an 8, my mother an 8/9. Even my sister who is very petite, barely 5 foot is a size 7! I’m taller but still have pretty big feet!

My daughter is 12 and is only just in a size 1 although I am only a size 3

Usernumber36373647323 · 04/10/2025 20:25

My partner (male) is 5 foot 10 and a size 7 men’s uk (but pretty wide footed) so I guess it comes from his side! His mother also has small feet but she’s not tall. Dd is pretty tall, which is my concern worrying she’ll be out of proportion as she gets older and it will make her clumsier then she already is 🤦‍♀️ maybe she’ll have a growth spurt soon!

Don’t girls stop growing about 2/2.5 years after first period? I know I stopped growing, including my feet at age 12/13 ish.
My girls are still growing, so I can’t speak from that side. I’d say she has the average sized feet of a 6 or 7 year old, but some adults have teeny feet. More common in shorter people, but not unheard of to have disproportionately small feet!

WaveChaser · 04/10/2025 21:11

I have a 12 year old daughter and her shoe size is 1.5 and her 10 year sister is a 1.

When I was in my last term at primary school, in 1967, my class made graphs with the age, height, weight and shoe size of each pupil. I was the youngest, summer born, shortest (I can’t remember my height then), the lightest at 4 stone 5 lbs, which I remember because the heaviest girl was exactly double my weight, 8 stone 10 lbs. I left Year 6 wearing size 13 1/2 shoes and got my first pair of size 1 for my new senior school, aged 11 and 3 months.

I caught up after puberty and was 5 feet 4, size 10 clothes / size 5 shoes at 16, then size 12 and 6 shoes by my 20s.

DD1 was one of the eldest in her school year. I didn’t record height or weight but she was the tallest girl at primary school and although a slim, slight build she had long fingers and was in size 4 shoes in Year 6. She barely grew any taller after she was 12 and now at 39 she is 5 ft 3 and size 6 shoes. Her 8 year old son takes size 4 shoes already!

Sorry for rambling but just agreeing everyone’s different.

My DD is 10 next month and quite small for her age. She's just gone up to a 2.

NellieElephantine · 04/10/2025 21:43

My ds is 8 and.a 4, same as me!

InfoSecInTheCity · 04/10/2025 21:46

Size 7 at 10yr, she’s 11 now and this years school shoes are size 8. I’m a size 9 shoe so I never expected her to have small feet but I’m hoping they slow down at some point or I’ll be having to craft flip flops out of a door and some rope at this rate. She’s one of the taller girls too at 5ft 3 so I think she’ll likely surpass my 5ft 8.

TellmethestoryofO · 04/10/2025 21:47

My daughter is 10 and a six 6 shoe, she’s the tallest girl in her year.

Strop · 04/10/2025 21:49

I teach Y3 (ie age 7/8) and girls are usually size 12, 13 or 1 so your dd does sound like she has pretty small feet.

pottylolly · 04/10/2025 22:23

I was a size 1 at 10 and 5 ft 4. By 18 I was a size 7 and 5ft 7ish

Pyjamatimenow · 04/10/2025 22:25

I think dd was in a 4 at that age. She’s nearly 12 now and in a 5.5

Deadringer · 04/10/2025 22:43

Feet usually stop growing at about age 12/13. Dd was a size 1 at age 10, at 16 she is a size 3, and a 4 in trainers.

Zoflorabore · 04/10/2025 22:49

My dd is 14 now and her feet have stopped growing at a 6.5 but she tends to wear a 7, she’s 5ft 4. When she was 10 she was in a size 5 and also started her periods when 10.

when I was 7 I was in an adult 5 and my feet stopped growing when I was 10 and in a size 9! My mum was panicking apparently. I’m glad my dd has a more normal size shoe than me.

Sinkingfeeling952 · 04/10/2025 22:51

I was a size 6 by year 5 (so age 9/10) 🙈

SpecialKtheoriginal · 04/10/2025 23:13

Size 6.5 at 8, almost 9 years old! But she is also extremely tall, and I think - like me - will reach her adult height early. I’m 5’10 and her Dad’s 6’4 so she was never going to be short!

Violinist64 · 04/10/2025 23:24

My daughter is an adult now but started school, aged 4½ in toddler size 6 shoes. When she started secondary school, aged 11½, she took size 13. As an adult, she takes size 2. Although I can't really remember fully, I think she would have been in size 12 in year six. I'm sure l took size 1 at ten and my adult size is 4. My husband and two adult sons all take size 7, which is probably why she has such small feet - a combination of both sets of genes. If you are concerned about your daughter having small feet, l wouldn't worry because most people see small feet as attractive in a girl or woman.

APurpleSquirrel · 04/10/2025 23:33

My DD is 11 (birthday last month) & she’s a size 5.5 - I know because we’ve been to Clark’s today & she’s had to have women’s boots for school. But DD is also quite tall - over 5ft 2in.
DS is 7 & a size 13.5/1 & is on the taller side for his age but DD was taller at the same age.

ladygindiva · 04/10/2025 23:55

My twin DDS are 8 and their sizes are 13 and 1, and they are shorter and have smaller feet than most of their friends who appear to be a 2. On the other hand I was a size 2 at almost 12 years when I started secondary. Size 4 now,so not freakishly small. Handy because I can buy youth sizes which are cheaper!
