What's biting my daughter

Please help.
My daughter started with a few bites last week, whuck i put down to playing in the woods at school. But over the last few days there are many more. Could this be chickenpox? I've stripped the beds, boil washed the sheets. We co-sleep and i have 2 bites. They are only on her back and tummy, no where else.
Please help, I'm panicking.

That picture doesn’t show them that clearly… Bit worrying that you have bites too, have you had CP? It’s not likely although not totally impossible for you to get it again. Any pets in the house and are they up to date on their flea treatments? Your best bet though would I think be to go to the pharmacy first thing tomorrow morning and ask the pharmacist to take a look. IME they’re really good on rashes and they can also prescribe treatments if needed under the pharmacy first scheme.

Springadorable · 03/07/2025 20:31

It doesn't look like chicken pox assuming they aren't blisters like the photo. If it was bed bugs I'd expect you both to be bitten (although they can favour one person). Are they itchy?

cannynotsay · 03/07/2025 20:37

Looks like fle bites

MumOnBus · 03/07/2025 20:46

Bedbugs bites?

Chestnutthoroughbred · 03/07/2025 21:43

I would have said they may have been bed bug bites but I think they tend to bite on exposed areas of skin and normally in a line.

Unfortunately I have had experience with bed bugs whilst having a 2 month old baby. Have you checked your mattress over?

I have had chickenpox, yes.
We do not have any pets in the house.
I am going to seek advice in the morning, i have intermittently got up and checked the bed this evening for signs of bugs and nothing. 🤔

I have yes, I've had everything off the bed and flipped the mattress, several times. I have been up 3 or 4 times tonight with a torch looking for signs of bugs, i can't see anything. Would they be visible to the eye? Do you know if they tend to favour 1 person? I have 2 bites, but 1 i know definitely came from the garden.
Thanks

They aren't itchy at all, I've added an additional photo. Hopefully this is clearer.

That looks like blisters on the top of some of those so could be chicken pox. Have a look at the pics on this link:

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/chickenpox/

My DS had chickenpox mildly and wasn’t that itchy at all.

It looks like chicken pox to me.

CobraChicken · 04/07/2025 03:50

That second pic looks like chicken pox to me.

Springadorable · 04/07/2025 06:09

Oh I agree, that second pic is much more chicken pox-y

Okayornot · 04/07/2025 06:18

That’s chicken pox.

whynotmereally · 04/07/2025 06:43

it looks like chicken pox but also a bit like ant bites. Are your bites exactly the same?

No, mine are more typical of a mosquito bite I'd say. My first thought was chicken pox, but they are only on her torso and not itchy at all.

Thanks everyone, i am taking her to the doctors this morning. I have ordered a bed bug trap that will arrive today. I was up most of the night checking for bugs and didn't see anything, there aren't any signs of blood or poop from bugs.
Thank you again, i will update later xxx

Bed bug bites can often be clustered, these look more like flea bites. Both critters are notoriously difficult to spot but fleas are easier to deal with than bed bugs - bed bugs are a nightmare.

Choppedcoriander · 04/07/2025 08:35

They’re not bed bug bites. The pattern is wrong. Bed bugs also tend to go for ankles and lower legs, and bite in patterns of three.

givingitupok · 04/07/2025 08:35

It's chicken pox. I mean, so clearly chicken pox.

Choppedcoriander · 04/07/2025 08:38

I wouldn’t take her to a GP for chickenpox. She could infect some vulnerable people there.

jaggededger · 04/07/2025 08:49

Another vote for chicken pox! You having two bites is probably unrelated, unless you’re having a mild dose.

Okayornot · 04/07/2025 08:50

Make sure the GP knows in advance you suspect chickenpox. They will likely have you wait somewhere apart from everyone else.

NowIveSeenEverything · 04/07/2025 08:52

Second pic is clear chicken pox. My son wasn't itchy with them at all either (he also didn't get the itches when he caught threadworms). He also had no other symptoms, the fever didn't come until much later, nearer the end.

Chewbecca · 04/07/2025 09:17

Don't take a DC with suspected CP to the Drs surgery pls!

Amierebecca84 · 04/07/2025 10:41

The doctors are aware of my CP concerns. She is going into the hot clinic. Thanks everyone for your concerns, i am aware of the do's and don't's surrounding CP!
