Now really confused is it threadworm or two different things

Okay so a couple of weeks ago, despite whatever went past me that I didn't notice. Plus no notification from school if others are affected, not heard anything from parents I speak to. So now thinking is it from something else.
Anyway, i took washing out, and i noticed these thin white/clear thread type things all are not the same. It was too obvious that it could not be a mistake plus to my horror a few moved. Although i thought such things would die completely in the wash.

Anyway i then read up on it, and when i needed to use the loo next i checked and I saw what looked like a threadworm.
Anyway we took the medicine, although i was aware that you still have to worry about eggs. And the cleaning and process to get rid. That is without re picking it up out of home again.

Anyway two weeks passed i can't say I saw nothing at all, plus whatever was still on clothing or transferred.
I checked a few days back when my DC went to the toilet and saw more worms 🤦‍♀️ same for mine and I had stomach ache etc.
So as you can take a second dose we did.
Don't expect miracles as I read they can still take time to come through.

Plus it depends on trying to wash hoover things etc.

Now this evening I just went to go in my wardrobe to get my hair dryer out, and now because I am seeing things everywhere, I notice what I obviously didn't before or wouldn't normally look at.
Well these are items not worn recently or in a little while. How the hell are they on there and one in particular moving 🤦‍♀️
I don't know if I can upload video.

Hoping someone will come along who has experience of this to give some insight, or are there other things we don't know about. But googled a few and not those.

I am planning on showing video I took to pharmacist and to book with GP.

I'm pretty sure they're not threadworms.

We have had them in our poo, not constantly but have had them.
This is what I'm trying to work out, if it's not that what is it.
Because they are everywhere.

Just spoken to GP this evening wasn't bothered even though i am in an anxious state over it.
They just gave another dose of the threadworm medicine.
I have seen them previously but bigger because the situation was more far gone then.
Again in underwear.
My DS's too inside his pyjamas in the morning.

What is it then, they move sometimes when you just watch them, or if you hold one up the length of it will move.

I guess it's going to take perseverance and try to get the doctor to then investigate further.

Threadworms are shorter and slightly fatter than anything you have shown, nor do they have jagged bits. The absence of any itching would indicate to me that the problem is, and wasn’t , threadworms . You are looking at fluff or something else , hope GP can help

It's not they weren't there on fresh underwear then appeared since then and spotted when I took the pics this morning.

@Redruby2020 You wouldn't be finding them in wardrobes or places like that, but can you take a photo on something smooth as its hard to see on fluffy clothes.

Have you got cats or dogs? Could they also have worms?

YesItsMe44 · 09/07/2024 19:56

Random suggestion, but have you called any tree and yard services? They could rule it out as not being from trees and bushes, or able to identify it. Spring and summer bring out infestations in different areas.

Not a bad idea I might have to try that and see what info i can find out.

P.s sorry, no I don't have any animals.

I know re: threadworms it's just mentioned as being in poo, can be seen in underwear which is certainly true i have experienced this a good few times.
They can transfer then, to other things. As you wash things etc.
I think some are what have dried up after washing and drying, wafted around landed elsewhere.

This is with me having zoomed in and screenshot the same picture.

On my DS's trousers after school. It moved lol.
Okay longer than other pieces, others have been smaller softer with same jagged bits.
I think some saying they are not threadworms on other pics things I have mentioned. If anyone has seen one in their underwear, and if it were to die and dry up what the body actually looks like.

Now really confused is it threadworm or two different things

That looks nothing like a threadworm. Looks more like a bit of fluff/feather.

Sunnysideup34 · 10/07/2024 17:32

Looks like a very small feather to me which would explain them wafting around

ShutTheFuckUpCakes · 10/07/2024 18:28

That's a tiny feather.

It's moving due to static, or the gentlest breeze, or even your breath.

It is categorically not a threadworm or any other kind of parasite!

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 10/07/2024 19:22

Sorry but there is a chance you might be unwell but not physically. My sister is diagnosed with depression and when she was very sick, she thought her house was infested with ticks. She would send us pictures (but they were pictures of lentils which were loose in a drawer). OP, have you ever been diagnosed with a mental illness?

Curlymam88 · 10/07/2024 21:09

Looks like one of the millions of feathers that come out of our duvets all the time.

Geppili · 10/07/2024 21:15

Feather duvet/pillow?

PollyandOlly · 10/07/2024 21:20

lol these aren't threadworms. 😆
Threadworms are a bit chunkier and look more wormy. They don't wander about your wardrobe or come home in kids jumpers. 😂

CatchHimDerry · 10/07/2024 21:46

With kindness OP, I kind of get it as I had threadworms ALL THE TIME as a teen from younger brother / the neighbour kids and I swear I could see the damn things everywhere and nobody believed me.

But these aren’t threadworms or their dead dried up bodies. Perhaps, as PP has suggested, there might be something more to it and a chat to the GP might help the situation? Perhaps it may be anxiety / similar causing these intrusive thoughts re “the worms”?

Thankyou for your comment.
I do have anxiety yes.
And I am aware that these other things or pieces are not obviously related.
We have had threadworms though, everything else aside. I have seen them after using the toilet. So that much I do know.

We have had threadworms it's not in my imagination.
And things inside underwear after a nights sleep/inside pyjama bottoms etc. They moved that's not mental illness.

It has increased my anxiety though yes, because then you start noticing all these things and it made me panic and over worry.

It's odd because either on here or somewhere else someone said it could be another parasite.

Bloody hell OP, the last photo you posted is a 100% a tiny strand of feather, clear as day. Make yourself an opticians appointment. Tiny feathers come out of down coats and pillows, you say you own those things. Clearly the feathers are in your wardrobe and washing machine. Threadworms are absolutely tiny and not easy to see like this.

Rowena191 · 11/07/2024 00:13

I think those may be feathers. We had similar from a feather cushion with a loose weave cover, they got everywhere. I threw the cushion out in the end. They are very light and the slightest air movement makes them move. Do you have feather cushions, pillows or duvets? Could you get a magnifying glass to get a better look at them? I hope you can get an answer to relieve your anxiety.

DoraDont · 11/07/2024 12:29

Every single picture you've posted shows a piece of feather or lint. NOT A THREADWORM.

They don't float around, they don't dry up in the washing machine, and they don't live in wardrobes.

Puddlelane123 · 11/07/2024 12:42

OP I don’t think the constant uploading of photographs here is going to help you. My personal feeling is that an initial threadworm episode within the household has triggered your anxiety and you are now demonstrating signs of parasitosis - a fixed, false belief in a parasitic infestation. I say this with kindness but please please speak to the gp about the mental health side of things.

Possibly. It wasn't just that I thought everything related to that.
What is wrong is to tell someone they are imagining it, when I had them in my underwear lol.
Yes I have already said I do suffer with anxiety, quite badly at times.

This was the first time this happened for us, from what we know. So it wasn't very nice to say the least.

Before we even knew we actually had it. 1-2 things on the clothing actually moved. I was more interested in finding out what they could be as opposed to thread worms.

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 11/07/2024 23:18

OP you need to talk to someone who is there with you eg another adult who can give you their perspective. I know me telling you that you are imagining it seems unkind, but I agree with @Puddlelane123 and this other users should be aware that this can happen with psychotic depression. I have seen it first hand. My poor sister was calling out multiple pest control people and spending lots of money. She wanted to rip up her kitchen and floorboards but the ticks she thought were infesting her house were lentils and bits of dirt or fluff. It was very scary for both her and I.
