Using yellow metanium for nappy rash

My 11 month old has a bad nappy rash where she has broken skin on her bottom. I am so sad at how uncomfortable this must be for her and also sad that I wasn't able to prevent it - I felt like I was changing her soiled nappies as soon as they were happening. I have read yellow metanium is excellent for healing nappy rash.

I've just used some tonight but I wanted to ask if anyone knows whether this cream doubles up as barrier cream? Or do I need to use bepanthen in addition to the metanium?

Many thanks

Just a quick update, it seems to have started to heal well overnight. Feeling a bit more relieved. Thanks so much everyone.

Also, just wanted to check that this is what it's supposed to look like.. in the places the skin was broken it looks like white speckles have settled around the broken skin. We have olive-brown skin so I don't know if that might be a factor in how it's showing up... and the whole place has a sort of white chalky residue which isn't really coming off when I use cotton wool and water. I don't want to rub too hard as the area is obviously sore and sensitive.

i always left the chalky residue. It’s not sticky and helps add a barrier (I feel). It comes off gradually but I never scrubbed it off because the area is generally sore. I’ve used it on myself and it isn’t irritating or uncomfortable, helps keep the area dry too.

@wowihaveagardennow the white spots are the metanium where it settles into the sore bits. Don't keep wiping it, it'll come off once her skin has healed 😊
