Chicken pox pock marks- the after scars!

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any before and after photos of their children’s pox scars?

DD had CP a month ago and has four large holes in her forehead. I know they won’t go and will fade but just wondering what they could look like from experience?

They are much redder and deeper than in the pic.

I am down a rabbit hole over this. Any before and afters would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you @justabigdisco, gosh 6 months! So tiny to be covered in the pox. I'm glad it didn't leave too bad a scar.
Do you mind me asking if it "grew with her"? I read lots of reassuring posts where people say not to worry as a person grows but a scar does not do it'll be tiny in a few years.

But I read on more official sources that scar tissue often does grow.

I imagine that was quite a big scar when she was a little baby?

DC had holes like this and no visibility scars at all. Young skin heals quickly! Xx

My scars lasted from the age of 4 until my mid 20s. Not a lot you can do.

I got one on my cheek when I was 6. I was actually quite proud of the battle scar. It almost disappeared in early adulthood and I can feel it but it's not really visible.

I think it probably did grow with her, but in a good way IYSWIM - it’s kind of stretched out but flattened as well?

Hi @LilyPad150Sorry to resurrect an old thread, I’ve been down a rabbit hole searching for things about chickenpox scars and came across your post. My DD8 has been left with some chickenpox scars that look really similar to what your DD’s looked like. I was hoping you might be able to update on what your DD’s are like now? Completely relating to all the emotions you felt back then, I’m devastated (know this is irrational but I can’t get over the feelings of regret that I could have done more to prevent 😥)

LilyPad150 · 15/01/2026 23:15

Hi @BonjourPetitPois , here is a recent update. In some light the scars are not noticeable at all, in other lights they are. But the most important thing is that my DD couldn’t care less 😅

She had a fringe cut in to hide the scars for a few years but we have recently grown it out and have fully embraced them.

Sorry to hear that you are in a similar situation. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Time is the best healer for both the physical scars and the mum guilt!

Hi @LilyPad150Thank you so much for replying, so kind of you to take the time. So glad that your DD is doing ok now. I was thinking a fringe may be the way to go to. At the moment my DH doesn’t want to go down that route as he doesn’t want DD to feel like she has something to hide (which I understand) but maybe as time goes on we’ll do that if she’s bothered by them. Hoping like you say that time will be the best healer 😊

Thank you for all the updates!

I was just going to start my own thread because my poor 8 month old baby is absolutely covered in pox. His 3 year old brother has a handful of spots and only 2 on his face!

I really hope they don't scar his beautiful face.
