My DD’s legs are covered in bruises that she can’t remember how she did them. I must admit - I did google and started to trawl, panic levels rising, through google pages of topics like childhood cancer…. But then I had to stop myself…

children are always playing, running, jumping.., they will have bruises, even big ones that looks like the ones in your photo. Your DD has probably knelt on something or bumped something.

if it were something like one of those cancers (I assume that’s what you’re worried about) the bruises would be bigger, more purple - like blood loss under the skin.

if you’re concerned, call the GP but try to relax OP, stop googling and try to think about something else. Xx

How is she otherwise? Is she pale? Any rash? Any weight loss? Night sweats or changes in her temperature regulation? Any behavioural changes? Lethargic?

the most common cause of unexplained bruising in children is actually iron deficiency, but malignancies such as leukaemia and lymphoma can cause unexplained bruising too.

Thank you everyone. So sorry I didn’t respond earlier. I didn’t call the dr. They’ve gone now but I was so worried! I’m sure they were from just playing but I did drive myself crazy googling!

I went through this stage OP, had real anxiety about it.

Had to accept I had a bruisey child (she's very fair skinned).

It's when bruises appear in "not easily bruised" places that you take notice, such as top of arms, chest, spine.

Those pictures look like normal 7 year old rough and tumble, so don't panic :)
