Molluscum

My son has had molluscum for over 18 months (apparently this is common in kids but I’d never heard of it!). For most of that time he had a cluster on his neck and another behind his knee, these have now cleared. But he’s now coming out in them all over the place- arms, chest, legs, face, even one on his scrotum that thankfully cleared quickly. He ended up with antibiotics for cellulitis from one on his arm. The dr says there’s nothing that can be done and we have to wait it out but they just keep cropping up. Is there anything I can do to help him clear them more quickly? I’ve seen mollenol advertised but it’s expensive and can’t seem to find the science behind it- I’ll spend the money if it’s got a chance of working but don’t want to be ripped off. I’m open to herbal/ alternative treatments too but not homeopathy. Thanks

I used tea tree oil cream and thuja tablets (lots of them)

Coconut oil mixed with a few drops of tea tree kills them off & antibiotic cream too!

Zinc and caster oil. I had it as a kid, nothing worked until my mum tried this. Cleared up in 2 days.

You have my sympathy, please don't worry one day they will be a distant memory! I have three daughters, the eldest one caught it at school and it took about 18 months for it to go for her, then my youngest two caught it. The youngest got rid quite quickly but my middle daughter has a stubborn case. I think its on the way out. I went to the doctor and they couldn't really help. I went to the chemist and asked for the molludab but they didn't have it. I was offered Bazuka that verucca which is much cheaper and it has had the required effect which is to irritate the warts, make them red and then the others also turn red and start to heal. I believe we are on the way out with them and it took about 3 weeks. I was choosy about the ones I treated, the big ones and the ones that were not on face etc got it, keep treating the same ones. It does sting so do it at night. I've got everything crossed as she won't take her cardi off at school because they are on her arms and its getting hot.

Tea tree oil cream (not neat oil) helped clear my sons up really quickly. It was recommended on here. Good luck

We used molludab years ago. The doctors won’t prescribe it and I remember it being expensive! The pharmacy had to order it in but it did work.

Oh goodness dd had them Iver about a two year period. Nasty things. We waited it out and then she got chicken pox which seemed to act as the catalyst for them to disappear. Over about two to three weeks every one flared and seemed to pop and bleed. Her pyjamas were had big blood spots every morning but they seemed.to burst, bleed and disappear.
