Just that really.
Do you give your children any vitamins? Vitamin d during winter months etc?

Yes a multi vitamin as fussy eaters but apparently vit D is fine to give alone - vit D important fir is all!!

Godzillaandgodzuki · 14/12/2021 06:58

Yes, ds is 9 and I give him a multi vitamin and this year also an immunity one with vitamin D, his diet is nutritionally okay but he doesn't eat a lot of fruit and the immunity one was an attempt to ward off the endless winter colds that primary children bring home.

BooseysMom · 14/12/2021 07:02

I've always wondered about this. DS refuses to eat any fruit and veg other than a piece of carrot and cucumber in his lunch box and an apple for supper so I buy the Bassetts chewy ones. They haven't got omega 3 so I do wonder whether he needs that too.

CaddieDawg · 14/12/2021 07:06

Yes, I use Haliborange. It's recommended for kids until at least 5 years old to take a daily vitamin, and for everyone to take vit D in the winter if you are in the UK.

normanthegonk · 14/12/2021 07:08

Only omega 3..,fish hater!

SquigglePigs · 14/12/2021 07:16

DD is three and we give her them intermittently and have done since she was weaning. Her diet is good so I'm not worried about her having some every day but a bit of topping up didn't seem like a bad idea. I'm trying to get her to have the gummy ones but she's reluctant to change from the liquid she's always had!

AnnaSW1 · 14/12/2021 07:16

Yes vitamin d as per nhs guidance. They are under 5.

ginnig · 14/12/2021 07:17

vit d

ginnig · 14/12/2021 07:18

even the 7 yr old.

WaltzingBetty · 14/12/2021 07:19

All people in the uk should take vitamin d all year round. Because of our northern latitude The wavelength of uv we receive from the sun is only adequate to convert vit d for a few summer months
You will be deficient without supplementation
The NHS recommend it

Megan2018 · 14/12/2021 07:23

DD has a liquid multivitamin vitamin daily, she’s obsessed with it fortunately. She eats well but sometimes rather random “meals” as she’s peak fussy toddler and I’d rather we covered all bases.
I also take a daily multivitamin.

SickAndTiredAgain · 14/12/2021 07:24

What vitamins do people give younger kids? I see the chewable ones but they are often 3+ (is that due to choking risk or vitamin content?) and DD is 2.5. Any recommendations for under 3s? I know you can get vitamin d drops but I’ve also read the NHS recommendation to give a other vitamins up to the age of 5, can you get drops for those?

StruggleStreet · 14/12/2021 07:27

Yes, just vitamin D drops for the baby and a chewable multivitamin for the toddler. She’s not a terrible eater but can be hit and miss with what she eats, it stops me stressing quite so much if she has a few days where she just wants beige

purplesequins · 14/12/2021 07:27

my dc are older now. they take vit d3 all year round and dd a multi vit with iron (recommended by gp due to deficiencies)

megletthesecond · 14/12/2021 07:30

Yes. Mine are teens now but they've always had the well kid range of vitamins.

SkankingMopoke · 14/12/2021 07:30

We give them when we remember/DD1 requests, which is probably 3 or 4 times a week. DCs are 5 and 7yo.

SpikeDearheart · 14/12/2021 07:36

@SickAndTiredAgain I give my nearly 2 year old Abidec liquid vitamins, which have vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, C and D. They taste of nothing and you give them with a little syringe that comes with the pack. They are expensive though so I stock up when they're on offer Grin

GiltEdges · 14/12/2021 07:39

Yes, DS has a daily multivitamin with omega 3.

BeyondOurReef · 14/12/2021 07:40

I give the toddler vitamin D. The 12 year old gets vitamin D and iron (because he’s always slightly deficient no matter what I feed him - for medical reasons).

QueenLagertha · 14/12/2021 07:45

I give DS the wellbaby wellkid liquid for under 4s. It has iron and vit D In it. He won't take the abidec liquid. I buy it when it's on 3 for 2 at Tesco or boots. Not sure what to move on to when he's older

QueenLagertha · 14/12/2021 07:46

Oh I've just seen they do an over 4s liquid. I thought it would just be gummies. Would prefer the liquid

Tayegete · 14/12/2021 07:49

Yes mine take a multi vitamin with omega 3. DS decided he wasn’t going to eat any fruit or veg at 3/4 and now has a bit of a phobia about it. If he has a smoothie and some baked beans it’s a good day 😳.

Caspianberg · 14/12/2021 07:53

Vitamin d drops. They are very hot on your giving them here, and paediatrician will give for free if it’s a cost factor. €6 bottle lasts about 6 months

Loudestcat14 · 14/12/2021 07:55

Yes. DD12 is a fussy eater – fine with veg but hates fruit. She has a multivitamin with Evening Primrose Oil (Bassetts chewy ones) and also an iron table formulated for kids.

BigGreen · 14/12/2021 07:59

Yes, they love the gummy ones so much they remind me nearly every day. I also give them some liquid iron a few times a month.
