Hi , it’s now the rollout for the covid vaccine 12-15year olds
Will your teen be vaccinated ?

SoupDragon · 20/09/2021 10:31

Will yours?

Angel2702 · 20/09/2021 10:33

Yes my eldest had his on Friday as he is in vulnerable group and will have two doses. Younger one should be shortly when the general roll out in school starts.

OneWeirdEyebrow · 20/09/2021 10:36

Nope

Megistotherium · 20/09/2021 10:39

Definitely.

SomewhereSouthOfHeaven · 20/09/2021 10:39

One is undecided, one has decided not to have it. We haven’t had any info through from school yet though.

Frostytiger87 · 20/09/2021 10:48

I’m still very unsure my dd wants to have it done , a few of my younger friends had erratic periods after having the vaccine it could be a coincidence

my dd wants to have it done

It's her choice TBH.

Mine has Covid at the moment and it's brought on an early, very heavy period (which might be coincidence of course). She wants to have the vaccine.

Frostytiger87 · 20/09/2021 11:12

I think we do need to sit our teens down and discuss it , I don’t want to receive an email from school & be undecided
I wonder if there is a link between periods & the vaccine it seems to be a common after effect but yes it could be a coinicidence
I’m just trying to see what other parents thoughts are

Frostytiger87 · 20/09/2021 11:13

Thousands of women have reported this now so I hope it is looked into, but yes it’s certainly a worry for those of us with daughters who may choose to get the vaccine.

SomewhereSouthOfHeaven · 20/09/2021 11:20

SoupDragon

I hope your daughter is feeling better soon. Covid and a heavy period as well, poor girl.

Tittyfilarious81 · 20/09/2021 11:22

No my teen won't be, we have recently had covid and considering on the nhs app a positive pcr apparently gives you 6 months months natural immunity I see no reason to have then vaccinated

WouldBeGood · 20/09/2021 11:27

Ds is 13 and at greater risk of myocarditis from the vaccine than from Covid. (Both risks small)

The JCVI did not recommend it for teens on a medical basis.

I’d need to think very carefully and think I will give it a few months at least and see what happens. I’d struggle if I consented for him to get it and something happened to him.

I’m quite pissed off about the whole thing as it’s been a political decision and not about the best interests of the children.

Thank you (and SomewhereSouthOfHeaven). She's got of mildly with a bad cold/mild flu version.

Neither DS1 or myself have tested positive so far and I've spent a fair amount of time in close contact with her so I surmise that vaccination works!

SoupDragon · 20/09/2021 11:33

Covid and a heavy period as well, poor girl

Apparently the period was worse 😂. Bless her.

SomewhereSouthOfHeaven · 20/09/2021 11:39

I recommend chocolate, lots of tea and a heat pad for her. At least that’s what I like. 😂

TinaYouFatLard · 20/09/2021 12:04

I have completed the forms refusing my consent for the vaccine.

My 13 year old DD and DS will not be having it.

Echobelly · 20/09/2021 12:22

Yes, absolutely, she wants it and if it can even slightly slow down infection in schools that will help everyone. Honestly don't know why they didn't mount a programme over summer but at least they are doing it.

Barkingdog · 21/09/2021 04:44

Yes. Dd is very keen to have it. It's her decision.

Remmy123 · 21/09/2021 19:57

Not yet

Trixiebell06 · 24/09/2021 18:20

We’ve just had a date as to when our teen will be offered the vaccine I’m so in two minds & don’t know what to do
A few girls I know have had erratic periods since the vaccine does it really effect hormones ??

Frostytiger87 · 28/09/2021 14:43

Are kids just getting one jab of the vaccine ?

My ds is 12 and his school is rolling stones it the jabs next week. I haven't signed the consent form yet. Can you point me in the direction of risk of myocarditis stats and vaccine in children please?
