I'm sure a chemist can help, i hope they clear quick. What shit timing! 🙈

Suzi888 · 19/12/2020 22:46

Ring 111 - sorry no advice. Hopefully this give you a bump and someone will come along soon with better!

HollowTalk · 19/12/2020 22:47

A worm? Sorry, no idea but bumping for you.

HappyHomeWorker · 19/12/2020 22:47

I would see the pharmacist tomorrow.

delilahbucket · 19/12/2020 22:48

Chemist can help with this. They are threadworms, but they can travel from back to front. Very easy to treat.

cautiouscovidity · 19/12/2020 22:48

Get some meds from the chemist. You will need to treat the whole family (and I'm pretty sure there's a repeat dose in a few weeks but the pharmacist will explain). No need to see a dr.

Suzi888 · 19/12/2020 22:48

Just looked on NHS direct- see a pharmacist tomorrow.

Covidasaurus · 19/12/2020 22:48

Threadworms, very common. To the pharmacist tomorrow for some pills for the family. Don’t worry but poor girl will be uncomfortable. Change bedding and hot wash everything including towels and be scrupulous with hygiene for a few weeks.

Sway19 · 19/12/2020 22:49

Oh bless her, perhaps don’t tell her depending on her age?

raffle · 19/12/2020 22:49

As above and don’t share bath towels, make sure to change all her bed sheets too

ChristmasSomething · 19/12/2020 22:51

Just a chemist will be fine. Threadworms are really common. Just make sure you treat all the family, boil your sheets and get your daughter to wear knickers in bed for now (if she doesn’t already) to avoid any eggs going on the sheets or on pjs.

user1495884620 · 19/12/2020 22:52

Go to the chemist tomorrow and get some ovex. The worms won't be from her vagina, they go through the digestive system so will have wriggled there from her anus. You also need to be scrupulous about not touching genital area, handwashing and also wash clothes, towels and bedding to break the cycle of eggs getting onto hands which get put in the mouth and are swallowed causing more worms to hatch.

quyip · 19/12/2020 22:52

The whole family needs to be treated. The tablets normally come in packs of 4 for this reason. And you have to repeat treat in a couple of weeks. This is so common in young kids Ans yes they do make their way from anus to vagina if given the chance

Tickly · 19/12/2020 22:52

If it's just intestinal worms they're really common in young kid and the pharmacy can help. Should just be a liquid medicine to take but you need to treat the whole family and wash all sheets and towels and PJS / toys that could be infected . If she's been at nursery it would be kind to let them know because they do spread really easily. Thankfully they go easily too! I once had to dose my Dad after be spent a weekend with us 🤣

LBOCS2 · 19/12/2020 22:52

Tonight clean out anything you can see with a tissue and cover the area (front and back) with Vaseline or sudocreme. Take a trip to a chemist tomorrow and get a family pack of Ovex. Treat everyone, wash sheets, vacuum thoroughly, throw away playdoh or dough like craft things. Repeat in two weeks.

Keep in a stock of Ovex for when it happens again in 6mo.

nicecatsnowboarding · 19/12/2020 22:53

I really did have to use my best acting skill not to say anything. Bit worried if need a diff treatment to the norm as they are not in the gut. But I’ll be hitting the nearest open pharmacy tomorrow and washing everything like a demon

PinGwyn · 19/12/2020 22:53

Oh bless her, they're very common so a pharmacist can help you.

We were given a course of treatment for the whole household through minor ailments at Boots.

They can be sticky buggers so lots of hand washing, hoover anything that can be, wash all bedding/towels on a hot wash and try not to share. Shower every morning to rinse any eggs away from around the vagina/anus.

BabbleBee · 19/12/2020 22:54

Ovex from the chemist tomorrow, treat all the family. Hot wash for bedding and towels, hoover well. Make sure DC’s nails are kept short and they have good hand hygiene.

Don’t forget the second dose of Ovex.

PinGwyn · 19/12/2020 22:54

Oops, x-post!

Sorry for the repetition Blush

GuineaWig · 19/12/2020 22:54

Yes pharmacist can give you and family a tablet to take - echo what everyone else says - wash everything regularly. All about breaking the egg cycle. My daughter had it a couple of months ago and she was so uncomfortable at night. Tablet stopped the worms after a few days but you need to ensure no eggs (that's where the hygiene/ washing but comes in).

FusionChefGeoff · 19/12/2020 22:54

We managed to get rid of our little visitors without too much fuss thank God.

And yes, we just called them 'germs' I think the word 'worm' = huge fat earthworm at that age and would properly freak them out!!!

LBOCS2 · 19/12/2020 22:55

We call them wormies, which I'm not sure isn't worse 😂

MargeProopsSpecs · 19/12/2020 22:59

I recall from a previous thread that you need to shower not bath because the eggs float and can stick to the body again.
And the Vaseline or sudocrem as pp mentioned prevents the worms
from travelling . they can be really painful for little kids, bless em.

GruffyLove · 19/12/2020 23:06

Get liquid ovex from chemist two courses needed for the whole family
Wash all sheets tomorrow and vacuum up - leave open windows and let the sun in the eggs hate UV
Tonight wash her from front to back (or wipe and throw away wipes) and use Vaseline
Every morning for a few days after she wakes give her a shower
We quarantined the soft toys for a couple of weeks too
Short nails are a must! And let school/nursery know
Wear knickers at night be careful taking these off her in the morning and throw them straight in wash - we stand DD in bath - remove knickers gently - put to one side
Wipe then shower then dry and clean knickers on!

Good luck

TheDaydreamBelievers · 19/12/2020 23:07

@nicecatsnowboarding they still came from the gut so they need the same treatment! Treat (everyone), clean everything, vaseline around rectal opening once clean stops travel and itch. Then treat again! Poor LO
