DD has verrucas & sweaty feet, nothing works!

Surely I can't be the only one who's had this problem. She is 8, & has developed 8 verrucas so far over the last few months. We have tried bazuka & Salactol, both with a plaster over. It won't stay on more than a few minutes. Duct tape, same. Haven't tried banana skin due to the above. Have tried a few brands & types of plasters.

I'm not keen to freeze 8 verrucas as it's more than a mile walk to school & I am worried she will be too uncomfortable to manage it. I had verrucas frozen off many years ago & it was really painful, & although it got rid of the ones that were treated, the others remained for several more years.

Is there a specific brand of plaster that is better on sweaty feet? Anything else that will work?

It took me 9 years to get rid of my big verruca, I tried everything single product. Scholl verruca pen eventually worked after about 6 months of using it.

A chiropodist recommended zinc supplements for my 6 year old. Got DS a multi-vitamin with zinc and the verrucas turned black after a few weeks, then we put zinc tape on and after a few days (maybe a week? Can't remember) the verrucas pulled out on the tape Envy not envy!

somethinginthewater · 30/11/2020 22:27

My chiropodist recommended vitamin D and zinc and said with most people it made a big difference.
I eventually had uv treatment which was miraculous though wouldn't recommend it for a child as it was horribly painful.

We had terrible issues with ds and DD. We tried everything under the sun. Eventually thanks to MN we used nail varnish and it worked. 2 weeks of painting the area with varnish. Bare feet as much as possible. Amazing. Literally years of pain gone.

Loveatortie · 30/11/2020 22:32

Duck tape, recommended by a nurse few years ago got rid of my daughters.

Dandelionflower · 30/11/2020 22:33

Nail varnish worked for my dd too, a dark colour is best, apply thickly and daily or as often as it wears off. No pain like other treatments and won't fall off like a plaster, duct tape, or banana skin. It took a few weeks but it was worth it.

I couldn't get rid of my verruca then tried actifreeze verruca remover from amazon. It is easy to use, freezes the verruca, doesn't hurt and my verruca was gone in a week.

SlipASomethingUnderThe · 30/11/2020 22:41

Nail varnish worked on my DS too.

Bezzi · 30/11/2020 22:44

Another one coming on to recommend black nail varnish. Worked a treat, I was amazed. Plus it's cheap and painless

SionnachRua · 30/11/2020 22:47

Another fan of nail polish here!

mrsjackrussell · 30/11/2020 22:48

My chiropodist sent my daughter away with a strong deodorant for her feet first as he said that we needed to stop the sweat before treating verruvas as treatment wouldn't work otherwise. I can't remember what deodorant as it was years ago. The treatment did work after that.

adagio · 30/11/2020 22:49

We froze my dd one off with a freezy thing from boots. From what I can tell it was complete agony for a good few weeks after and I felt really bad for her Sad

Lockdown worked for DS. I'm guessing nearly six months of being barefoot at home deprived the little blighters of a damp, sweaty environment.

TenThousandSpoons · 30/11/2020 22:53

I’ve not heard of nail varnish as a treatment before. We have tried bazooka for months. Literally just paint over each verruca? Then file or just leave it?

Cuddling57 · 30/11/2020 22:54

Ooo I'm going to be buying black nail varnish tomoro! Thanks for the tip.

OrangeIsTheNewTwat · 30/11/2020 23:00

We tried nail polish, it came off in about an hour. Both with and without a plaster. Considering superglue... I am struggling as my verrucas lasted decades (I had one on my heel that turned into a cluster & I got it frozen off after about 18 years) but even after that they took about another 5 years to finally bugger off completely. I don't know what to do as I don't have sweaty feet so never had to think about it before. Nothing stays put, annoying.

Zinc supplements are an interesting idea. Can't hurt.

Antiperspirant never occurred to me... Shock

Those compeed blister plasters might stay on.

Bunnybigears · 30/11/2020 23:04

We used nail varnish on my sons verrucas and it worked despite him swimming competitively so spending 3 hours a day in the pool. It shouldn't be coming off maybe do nail varnish with a dab of superglue on top so you are not actually putting the glue on her skin.

mooncakes · 30/11/2020 23:04

Scholl verruca pen - it took two rounds of applying at bedtime for 4 nights and then having a 4 day break.

Jayinthetub · 30/11/2020 23:12

Salicylic acid painted on every night then filed off the next night with a nail file and repainted. Finally got rid of the little buggers after 4 years of trying.... I think what made the difference to ours was really filing them down - we used a corn/callus file as well - desperation worked in the end!!

OrangeIsTheNewTwat · 02/12/2020 09:02

Salicylic acid doesn't stay on!

Question for people who've used the scholl verruca pen - does it dry to from a hard gel like bazuka & similar products do? Or does it soak into the skin? I've googled & can't seem to find anything, just reviews saying how good or painful it is.
