About one cm long and looks sort of like a maggot 😱 no other symptoms and only one seen. Have given the threadworm treatment although I don't think that's what this is. Please help 🥺

Please help me identify this worm in my child's poo.

Is it flat? A tapeworm segment?

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 27/09/2020 20:26

No, it's quite round.

Tbh it looks like a maggot, but that wouldn’t make sense.

ThunderSkies · 27/09/2020 20:33

I mean, I know you said that, but it does actually look like one.

Minnie888 · 27/09/2020 20:35

We've had the treatment but without seeing worms but suspecting. Seems to have turned LO poo green/grey! That looks like a maggot.. could they have eaten it?

BurningQuestion1 · 27/09/2020 20:37

Doesn't look like a normal worm at all. They are incredibly thing and wiggly, this thing looks huge. Was it alive??

BurningQuestion1 · 27/09/2020 20:37

Thin I mean

FatGirlShrinking · 27/09/2020 20:39

That really does look like a fly larvae (maggot) not at all like a worm. I would absolutely be thinking out of hours doctor or even A&E if it definitely came out of him rather than ending up in his poo by some other means like finding its way into his nappy.

Elzbells · 27/09/2020 20:41

Intestinal myiasis. It's caused by accidentally ingesting food which a fly has laid eggs on. The maggots are then pooped out.

TheSultanofPingu · 27/09/2020 20:43

That's not a threadworm. I think it's a maggot.

Definitely not a thread worm or a tape worm. It is possible for a fly egg or maggot to be eaten and survive passing through the stomach - it’s called Intestinal Myiasis and it’s rare but does happen. You need to see a doctor ASAP.

AriettyHomily · 27/09/2020 20:47

Oh god it's a maggot. It's not a worm.

BarbarAnna · 27/09/2020 20:50

Well, now I am freaked out. Because I thought my daughter had worms when she was 2 but now I think she had maggots! She also threw up which probably stacks up!

AnyFucker · 27/09/2020 20:50

What the FUCK is that

WunWun · 27/09/2020 20:51

Is it alive?!

fairynick · 27/09/2020 22:15

Place marking Blush

mummymayhem18 · 27/09/2020 22:18

Definitely looks like a maggot 🤢🤮

ImFree2doasiwant · 27/09/2020 22:20

Good grief. I think a visit to the GP is in order!

I have no idea why I did. But I feel the same but I'm also oddly invested in the outcome.

Is he otherwise well op? It does look like a maggot rather than a bit of a worm. I'd keep an eye out for more and see GP.

userxx · 27/09/2020 22:26

Sweet Jesus 😱

RubaDubMum89 · 27/09/2020 23:09

That's definitely a maggot op. Dr's tomorrow I think, just to be safe.

Was it actually within their poo? No chance it's just fallen onto it or crawled into their nappy?

gettingusedtothelimelight · 28/09/2020 21:23

@BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney

Did you get to a GP? What did they say?
