Have a GP appointment on Thursday for him but in the mean time, I’m just looking to have my mind put at rest.

Before lock down, happy, healthy boy. Since lock down, I let him play a bit of PlayStation to communicate with friends, over headset on fortnite.
I feel like such a bad mum as it got quite out of hand, he would only do 1 hour of work the rest he would want the PS4, cry over it, got really attached to it.

6/7 weeks ago, he started getting headaches & feeling sick once every week or so.
At first I thought it was a bug, then it happened again and again.
It happened last Tuesday, and now it’s happened again today. (Headache and been sick) and still feels sick.
I have taken the computer off him.
Last week, I rang school concerned as he seems to have developed anxiety around family, and always wanting to be at home.
He has been sneaking on the computer without me knowing at silly hours of the mornings 5/7am hence why i have taken it off him.
Seems to have lost appetite more. He does eat but only small breakfast, hardly anything at lunch time but would always eat dinner. (Acceptable amounts)
He’s had no food today, only an apple which he’s bought back up.
Any ideas what this could be?

Please no nasty comments I feel awful I let the PS4 games happen a lot and I know I should have taken it sooner x

I also have an only DS at 7. He’s been ever so tired this week and I realised that if he was at school it’s nearly end of term and he’d normally be like this and very ready for the school holiday.

We found routine more important in lockdown as it gave him certainty and helped replicate normal life as much as we could.

We’ve also used more screen time than normal however we’ve tried to make most of it related to school or Beavers or the activities he’s interested in and not games. Board games are good too.

It is hard though, I know I can’t replicate his friends and teachers and definitely don’t have the sense of humour of a 7 year old that thinks shouting the words poo and fart really loudly and repeatedly is the height of comedy.

Routine starts this evening. Bath, a board game, a story and bed at 8pm.
I find it takes him a while to shut off so I’m hoping this helps x

I think we are all in the same boat but I’m persevering with a firm no to any computer games. I have got some baking stuff in today to bake a banana bread tomorrow and some shortbread which will be fun and we will take a drive with his bike somewhere.
Also have plenty of crafty bits at home to make some stuff and some education games also.
šŸ’ŖšŸ» We can do this. I know my mental health has taken a turn with stress etc.

And yes exactly lol Flowers x

Sounds perfect, and like you’ll both benefit. Hope things improve. šŸ’

Hi , I’ve been guilty of doing the same since lockdown, my son is 9 and I’m a single mum with a very demanding 3yo , this happened to my son 3/4 times and I researched it, it’s motion sickness from the game , if you type in gaming sickness it will come up with research. I won’t let him play early anymore and will try and limit his game for 2 hours a day( although mum guilt gets the better somedays) hope he ok and yourself , Xx
