I don't know, but you should keep going back. Is it getting bigger? Is it sore?

Is it itchy? Could it be impetigo (DS had a patch that started like that but it did spread as he scratched it) or a reactijon to some kind of bite? Have you used a different washing powder, soap, shower gel? Could be dermatitis caused by something like that, or eczema? Hard to say from a photo.

Just remembered I had a big patch that looked like this around my ear/side of my face last year. It was the suncream I was using, everywhere else was fine but that one bit of my skin didn't like it.

endofthelinefinally · 09/07/2019 09:30

Honestly I would want a dermatologist to look at that.
There are 2 visible moles on her face. Have thry changed at all?

Yorkshirelassie · 09/07/2019 09:33

Ring worm! (Though not actually a worm related thing at all, it's just fungal!!) Pharmacist will confirm and give cream, it'll clear up quickly.

Lyn29 · 09/07/2019 09:33

Thank you for your replies. Treated for impetigo first, no improvement then treated for ring worm, no improvement and last doctor said discoid eczema, treated and no improvement. Really affecting my dd confidence as people are constantly asking what it is, children and adults. She said it's not itchy anymore but I'm worried all these constant treatments are thinning or affecting her skin.

She is under a dermatologist for her mole but not due to see her for another 3 weeks

Ringworm

Didn't know you could get it on face

Yorkshirelassie · 09/07/2019 09:36

Oh, sorry, it looks just like the ring worm infection my son had last year Sad hope they get it sorted soon...

Lyn29 · 09/07/2019 09:37

Was treated for ringworm for 3 weeks and no improvement. Doctor said it's not ringworm as the inside of the circle is inflamed too and ringworm would be just a ring.

I wonder if your gp could get your appt brought forward?
Have you been back to the gp since the last treatment failed?
If you don't go back, they assume all is cured.

NationMcKinley · 09/07/2019 09:39

Could you get in touch with the dermatologist’s secretary and see if you can get her appt brought forward? I’d say that they’d be the best to assess it. Is she well otherwise? No other rashes?

Lyn29 · 09/07/2019 09:40

Yeah I went back yesterday but they are saying that it just looks superficial and no lasting damage so just wait for dermatology appointment and they have given me a steroid to put on the face

Looks just like any ringworm I've ever seen, how odd.

What cream did they prescribe?

Lyn29 · 09/07/2019 09:41

Yeah she is very well, no other rashes just that patch on her cheek, so confusing!?!

OP posts:
endofthelinefinally · 09/07/2019 09:42

I don't think it looks like ringworm.

Lyn29 · 09/07/2019 09:44

Ketoconazole for the ringworm, mupirocin for impetigo and eumovate for the discoid excema

Go back and keep going back.

LoafofSellotape · 09/07/2019 10:04

Actually, when I zoom in on my phone it looks less like ringworm.

CitadelsofScience · 09/07/2019 10:09

Lichen Planus? I'd want the Gp to email a derm with that pic and request being seen.

endofthelinefinally · 09/07/2019 10:10

I also don't think putting steroid cream on an undiagnosed facial lesion is good practice.

LoafofSellotape · 09/07/2019 10:33

Why wouldn't you try steroid cream if the GP has prescribed it? I bet that would be the first thing a dermatologist would suggest.

Lyn29 · 09/07/2019 10:34

Thanks for all your help and advise.

Email a picture to the dermotologists secretary and ask him/her to have a look? They might bring the appointment forward then?
