It does look like ringworm to me. (Sorry!)

Do you have a cat? Is it a bit scabby?

I caught ringworm off a scabby cat I lived with (we had a beautiful relationship).

So if in constant contact with cat, that might be why it’s not resolving.

It took me months of tea-treeing in a faraway country for it to disappear.

Looks like ringworm. One if mine had it in the back of her neck, took 3 weeks to clear up.

Louise190 · 09/07/2019 11:46

How is DD diet? And stress levels?

I get a similar condition on my face and hands which appears more when my dairy/bad carb intake goes up. It also worsens when my stress levels heighten.

DD has beautiful eyes btw 😍

Lyn29 · 09/07/2019 11:52

Thank you about eyes @Louise190 Her diet is good and her stress levels ok. I have emailed and sent pics to dermatologist so fingers crossed I hear back soon.

DD had similar for months. We were prescribed steroids, several antibiotics etc. Eventually, we saw a nurse practitioner who took one look, told us it was fungal and gave us some Canesten. One week later it was almost gone! Have you tried an anti fungal?

Lyn29 · 11/07/2019 22:13

Hi @InspectorAlleyn We treated it for 3 weeks with a fungal cream and it's still there but thank you for offering your advice anyway Smile

Have you tried the steroid that the GP prescribed?

Suzie81 · 12/07/2019 20:37

Found the mole comment a bit odd. People can have moles. Only of medical interest if they're doing something odd.

Suzie81 · 12/07/2019 20:40

Oh, and it looks like textbook ringworm.

AnyFucker · 12/07/2019 20:40

Tick bote ? Unusual on the face though.

AnyFucker · 12/07/2019 20:40

Bite

QueenofPain · 12/07/2019 20:40

Could be the herald spot of Pityriasis Rosea or ring worm.

Rkay2 · 12/07/2019 20:48

Looks like ringworm - but then my son had the same on his body. Thought it was ringworm. Then discoid eczema.
They gave clomitrazole. Didn’t work. Gave the other one with the steroid. Didn’t really work. Gave him cream for the eczema. Didn’t work.

I say didn’t work because the patches were there but I was trying to resolve his patches for almost 6 months. Couldn’t get in to see a specialist. Was almost going to pay privately. In the end I bought some oilatum cream and applied it several times a day and it’s cleared it up.

But it took a long time! And I still am not sure what it was!

endofthelinefinally · 12/07/2019 21:11

I mentioned the moles because I thought it might be significant.
The Op then confirmed that the dermatologist was already monitoring the moles.
I still feel the dermatologist should look at the rash/lesion.
Diagnosis is important. In my humble opinion.

Lyn29 · 15/07/2019 17:30

Hi all, sorry for late reply, been a right few days!!! Well it's still exactly the same, now only using the steroid once a day instead of twice and then next week every other day. Dermatologist in just under 2 weeks away. I'm still so lost as to what it is and just doing what the doctor has advised. It's not hurting or itching my daughter in any way which is good but I think she is getting fed up with so many people asking what it is, not really children asking it's mostly adults.

Also @Rkay2 What cream did you use? You said olitum but can you remember the full name of the cream? Thank you Smile

Well everybody woke up this morning and my daughters face has got even worse so I've stopped the steroid cream, here is a picture of it this morning. It looks more angry and inflamed and now a bit bumpy. I'm trying to get an appointment now with the doctor but I know they are just going to say wait for the dermatologist.

I had ringworm that looked just like that.
It might be worth asking a pharmacist if there is just one treatment for ringworm.
the reason i say that, is because for some thigns eg conjuctivitus, there are 2 main treatments, and if one doesn't work, you need to use the other, as there are 2 different causes/bacteria. (sorry, clear as mud)
point is, could you need to swit trcheatment for one thing eg ringworm, rather than switch over to a completely different thing?

justilou1 · 16/07/2019 13:31

I would try a combo of a stronger athete’s foot cream (it’s a fungus like ringworm) and an antibacterial cream over the top. If you could find a compounding pharmacists, a zinc and 10% sulphur cream would nail it. (Very old-fashioned, (and smelly) but brilliant for this!) BTW, ringworm almost ALWAYS presents as a spot, not a crop circle.

endofthelinefinally · 17/07/2019 20:30

Just coming back in quietly to say, again, a proper diagnosis is really important. If the GPs cannot diagnose this, a dermatology opinion is necessary.
I don't think putting lots of different creams on it is a good idea.
How soon can you get the dermatology appointment OP?

NationMcKinley · 18/07/2019 16:28

100% agree with @endofthelinefinally

Granuloma annulare?
