Poo size [title edited by MNHQ - pic removed]

Since she's been having cow's milk instead of formula my DD 13 months has been having problems pooping. She eats lots of veg and I really don't think that there's anything else that we could do diet wise. It's not really that she's constipated but can't pass the size of poo that her body is creating. She can strain several times before actually going and has on occasions cried out when passing it.

Any suggestions or is this a normal size for a slightly small 13 month old and she's just getting used to it.

I'd be grateful for any advice. TIA

For goodness sake why report a poo post when there’s a warning of a pic-Unobviously clicked to see it.. and then reported?! Don’t click if you don’t want to view and offer advice

My daughter is like this. We are using movicol and lactulose together and it has helped loads. She got like this at about 18 months Drs didn't take me seriously for ages. She is 3 now and can have 3/4 small poos a day but at least one massive one a week. Potty training has been a nightmare! Avoid giving too much dairy! No yogurts small amounts of cheese and reduce the milk, apples and grapes. Good fruits are melon, prunes, apricots and pears. Increase fibre, offer lots of liquids and be careful about how much red meat she has.
Go see the GP and hopefully you will be able to stop this before withholding her poos becomes a habit for her Thanks

That should say avoid too much apples and grapes!!

Thanks I've been to the docs and they've prescribed some powders like movicol. Yes I did show the doctor the picture for those interested.

Apples and Grapes??? Would never have linked those. Is your DC dairy intolerant then? The doctor didn't mention anything about avoiding food groups just said it was quite common and to see if these helped.

No not dairy intolerant that would cause the opposite problem I believe. Too much dairy makes children constipated so I was told by the GP and the Peads Consultant. Lots of fruit, fibre and fluids can help. Hope your LO doesn't suffer too much :)
