Sick baby won't stay awake. Normal or worrying?

He is 7 months.
He has been ill for four days with high fever, wheeze etc.
I took him to A&E for wheeze last night. They said bronchiolytis and gave steroids and nebulisers.
He has been aero on me since 10am. If I our him down he cries but a tired cry and not totally awake. If I hold him he stays fast asleep and grumbles if I try and wake him but immediately goes back to sleep.

Is this a normal reaction to days with a high fever and disturbed nights or shld I take him to be seen again?

His wheeze is much better.

Hope your baby is better soon. I'm currently in intensive care with my baby. There have been four other babies here since Friday with bronchiolitis too.

We narrowly avoided needing a ventilator. It's so true that they deteriorate quickly. We were only kept in as a precaution as my baby is oxygen dependent and within three hours was stopping breathing every few seconds and moved to intensive care.

The children's ward here is closed due to so many wheezy children so must be a bad year for it.

HDEE and Box - wishing your little ones well. This was my DD 2 weeks ago. She's on the mend now & I hope your DC will soon be too. Agree with Box this is a horrendous virus. Best wishes all. Try & look after yourselves too if you can, I couldn't eat for days which doesn't help anyone! xxx

Both my girls were in hospital with this, one at 2 weeks old she was in a week, the other at 8 months and stupid GP only sent her to hospital after numerous visits, anti b's, it took her to pass out in front of him before he took me seriously.

I hope your baby is better soon, hospital really is the best place.

How are things?

DS had a similar thing when he was 5 months. High temps, ability to rouse greatly reduced, red-rimmed eyes, pale, fast respiration, just very very flat with an odd cry and then a hoarse cry and then no cry at all. He was diagnosed with bronchiolitis at first and given steroids and nebulisers but he deteriorated and was finally admitted with double pneumonia. I can well remember how anxious I felt and how useless.

I really hope your little ds is on the mend soon.
