Another one here
DS1 was diagnosed quite late - he was 8 weeks old. He wasn't a particularly sicky baby when he was first born but it got gradually worse - me and DH hated feeding him as we were always on edge waiting for the milk to come back
We literally covered ourselves and sofa in towels and always had a plastic bowl to hand - I do feel sad that what should have been really special bonding times with feeding and cuddling were extremely stressful.
He was misdiagnosed by docs twice - once with a vomiting bug and once with reflux. However, I don't totally blame the docs as both times they asked me if the vomiting was projectile and it wasn't true projectile vomiting so I always said no. It came out with force but we could always catch it in a bowl
My mum commented she had never seen a baby vomit that way before and he was sick all over my sister and she commented that an awful lot of milk came back up considering it had been 2 hours since he had been fed - this started alarm bells.
Crunch came when he was sick in the early hours and there were specks of blood - took him straight to A&E, he was admitted, nurse witnessed him vomiting and was fairly sure it was PS and then he had some tests which confirmed it with his blood levels.
He had his op, very straightforward, he has a scar that only we would notice but like a previous poster said, he loves hearing about it now he is 6.
Sending him for his op was horrific - worst moment of my life
No longstanding health issues - very healthy, rarely has time off school. Everytime he gets a cold, it goes to his chest and develops into a cough which he can't control and ends up vomiting - no idea whether this is related or he would have been prone to this anyway.
Whenever I see a thread about a sicky baby, I always think 'oh no' aswell. I really wish I had posted on here about DS1 and hopefully someone would have mentioned PS as I knew nothing about it - I am fairly sure a quick google of the symptoms would have rung alarm bells and we could have got a diagnosis earlier.
