Hi, continuity thread for my little DS (3) who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma last week. Much gratitude for all the support the Trazzles have received. You nasty nest of vipers, you Grin

((( trazzle )))

Bloody hell :(

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 02/11/2012 23:16

Bugger!! Hopefully the boys will be home soon.

It is terrible that the NHS don't fund relapses, but I suppose the ugly line has to be drawn somewhere in the NHS and we don't want it drawn anywhere :(

It goes without saying that if my numbers come up tonight - you'll be right at the top of my list x

Maybe we (you) should start a fundraising campaign, let it build slowly and if Joseph doesn't need it (as we all hope) then you could donate the money to either another MNer in a similar situation or another related charity?

Trazzletoes · 03/11/2012 00:01

Chipping the charities that organise the individual fundraising use unused funds for either research or helping other families reach their goal.

DS is neutropenic: he doesnt have enough white blood cells to fight the infection. Antibiotics and, no doubt, green diarrhoea will follow... His red blood cells are also low so possible transfusion in the morning .

Ah well. Was hoping to take him to a firework display tomorrow - he's never been as last year I was in hospital with suspected early labour!!! Maybe next year, eh.

Oh and the Euromollions has given me £2.70... The start of the Joseph fund Grin

Also, from talking to others, this period of chemo is the easy bit. My blood runs cold at what is to come, but needs must. Just as long as the cancer cells aren't growing...

OP posts:
ChippingInLovesAutumn · 03/11/2012 00:24

Well, look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves HmmGrin

Can't we start a JustGiving fundraising thing as well though?

Poor little love - will his AB's be via a drip? If not, can you take him out for an hour or so to watch some from the car somewhere tomorrow night?

On behalf of blood donors everywhere I'd like to say 'Joseph is more than welcome x'

This period of chemo is the easy bit :( bloody hell... I thought you said/someone said that it gets easier not worse??

When will you know if the cancer cells are shrinking or growing?

Trazzletoes · 03/11/2012 00:25

Buffster I'm going to sleep with beautiful hands. Thank you.

Norks hat and words were in excellent taste Grin ta.

Dikkert thank you, you honestly shouldn't have. He loves it though.

Rhubarb? Beanie? Thank you. It's fab.

Apologies but I forget who sent the lovely striped knitted hat. It's gorgeous and does indeed fit DS. Love it.

Thank you to those others who have offered to send things. I never realised that people actually would send stuff and now i feel like a bit of a fraud to be receiving stuff from people we've never met (though I can assure you the bastard disease is horribly real). If I haven't taken up your extremely kind offers, I promise it's nothing personal. I just feel a bit awkward at your generosity.

Chipping he'll have some tests after this lot of chemo for initial findings on what the cancer is doing.

Yes, he should tolerate each chemo session better than the last. But all being well, the high dose chemo and stem cell transplant will be the worst bit. Painful and awful. He will have no immune system. None at all. Pretty much any infection could do for him. That will be a very difficult road, but I know he can do it. Team Trazzle for the win. As they say. Or someone might, anyway Grin

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 03/11/2012 00:57

Well, that means that hopefully very soon you can be reassured the fucking bastard cancer is shrinking/curling up and pissing off!!

HDC & SCT both sound very scary, as does no IS :(

Definitely Team Trazzle for the WIN Grin

KnottyLocks · 03/11/2012 07:58

Checking in with a splodge. X

Been away for a couple of days so have been splodging across the country thinking of you.

tholeon · 03/11/2012 08:27

You poor things. Bastard bastard cancer.

Would love to send him something too. I guess you won't be able to see many people when his immune system is all shot to pieces - has he got enough DVDs? Any you think he would like and hasn't already got? How about a pair of Gruffolo pjs? Just got them for my three year old and he loves them...Don't feel awkward, just feel like I know your little chap a bit, though I know it is only on line, and would love to put a smile on his face.

Hope DD is on the mend soon, am sure she will be. That will give you one less thing to worry about, at least.

Love from Surrey xxxx

PedallingSquares · 03/11/2012 08:34

Bastard bastard cancer indeed Sad

Thinking of you as ever.

Go Team Trazzle

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/11/2012 08:48

Team Trazzle for the win. Fuck off cancer.

Thinking of you here my lovely, my splodge is as bright as ever X

onedev · 03/11/2012 08:52

Team Trazzle for the win for sure.

dikkertjedap · 03/11/2012 09:47

Team Trazzle for the win! Definitely!

I hope your DS is back home again before chemo starts again. Don't beat yourself up about missing the ear infection. I have missed at least two ear infections whereas I always try to be really alert to them. They are easy to miss, even doctors miss them. And if you don't miss it, you are often told to wait and see as it may be viral.

I know that you can set up a fundraising page with the Neuroblastoma Alliance UK. From what I have read about them, they can help with funding treatment abroad even if you have not raised sufficient funds yet, but then when more funds come into your fundraising account they will go to the Alliance or something like that.

It maybe a good idea to already start fundraising now or at least authorise somebody to start fundraising on your behalf as it may take a little while to ensure that you have enough money, not just for the treatment and all the travel but also for your family to stay somewhere etc.

I am now going to check my first ever Euromillions ticket (I don't hold much hope I must admit ...) but bought it just in case.

Hope that DD is feeling better soon, I find that ibuprofen based medicine (calprofen, nurofen) helps much better with the pain (and inflammation) than calpol (paracetamol).

Hopefully you all have a good day today. Team Trazzle for the win!

GlaikitFizzog · 03/11/2012 10:01

Trazzle the stripy hat might be mine! I'm so glad it fits. Once I had stitched it together and plonked it on 18mo DSs head I panicked a bit that it would drown him!

Team trazzle to win! :)

ShiftyFades · 03/11/2012 10:08

How's Joseph today?
We all want his cancer to fuck off to the far side of fuck Angry
It's so frustrating to be so far from you, I'd happily clean up for you anything to avoid my own cleaning

Has he had a transfusion today?

((hugs))

Trazzletoes · 03/11/2012 10:28

Temp has come down, transfusion due to start shortly.

OP posts:
Engelsemama · 03/11/2012 10:53

Just checking in to see how you are trazzle. Glad temp has come down. x

GlaikitFizzog · 03/11/2012 11:03

You have just given me the kick up the bum to donate blood again. I'm going on the 14th November because they are in the sports centre round the corner. I had no idea, I thought I would have to go into Edinburgh!

Badvoc · 03/11/2012 11:07

Thinking of you x

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/11/2012 12:10

I'm not able to donate blood at the moment, but as soon as I am fit again I will do and I will be thinking of the Trazzle family. Hoping today goes smoothly.

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 03/11/2012 12:16

I hope the BT has gone (is going?) OK and he's feeling OK afterwards x

dikkertjedap · 03/11/2012 12:57

Sorry to hear that he couldn't go home tomorrow. Hope the blood transfusion is going well. Can he start chemo tomorrow?

When would he need to go into isolation for high dose chemo/BMT? Do you already know for how long it will be and whether he is allowed to take toys/cuddly toy/dvds/CDs or whether it first needs to be sterilised?

This is the story of Sam who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma stage IV when he was three, he is seven now and doing well.

dikkertjedap · 03/11/2012 12:58

Sorry, meant go home yesterday not tomorrow.
