7mth upset & a clicky hip/knee

my dd - 7months has had an ocassional clicky/clunking hip/knee since xmas. We are waiting a referral to see ortho, hv is 99% positive it's nothing just a noisy joint. To begin with I agreed with this but now not so sure, the joint/s are only noisy ocassionally but almost always when dd is colicky & has been arching her back. The last 3 nights have been really bad, she's been screaming, really upset for ahort periods, all started after arching her back & the noisy hip starts, after a while she calms down, the clunking stops only for it to restart the next time she arches her back. Saw the hv again today, she couldn't suggest anything else for wind/colic & suggested night terrors may be playing a part & suggested we try & get a better night time routine - not sure how this will help a noisy joint though!

Forty years ago they told my parents my hip would be fine. It has hurt for over twenty years now, actually dislocated about ten years ago and is making pregnancy pretty painful at times. It seems to pop out a bit quite often then go in again with a pop. So, please, push as hard as you can to get it sorted now!
Ignore your health visitor. They have a very limited range and just deliver a reading from a script they learned. Why not try gripe water, which worked for DS, fennel tea or a massage technique?

thanks drseuss - i have been chasing up the referral, the hv was very good if I wanted a tea & sympathy sort of chat but just very short on solutions. Seemed to think my lack of sleep was the main concern, of cours dd was grinning & babbling so looked the picture of health & happiness she probably thought i was making the whole thing up!

Tiger in the tree worked quite well for DS.

Because of my history and the fact that DH also had dodgy hips at birth, I had DS's checked at birth at my insistence. I later insisted that they be looked at again at his 6wk check and our GP sent us to have them checked via ultrasound. Fortunately, they are fine. I will be doing the same for DD, due in June. Don't be afraid to ask and to push for what you want. I fully expect that i will end up with a new hip in 20yrs. Maybe I would need one anyway, maybe not.
