Yep her Peak flow was 210 at about 6pm which is low but OK

She couldn't have done her peak flow later

She has been on double since Saturday - the GP doubled it again

So her normal dose is 125 twice a day & she is on 4 x 125 twice a day

Sorry - the GP doubled it when we saw him today

It's a virus but she has to take 4 times her normal dose until it is normal, the twice her dose for as many days again

She has been quite lethargic, and a bit off her food; but much less coughing. We will see how bedtime goes

She is still rough tonight Sad

She seems to get better each day and then worse each evening

What about an X-ray to check for chest infection? 9 out of 10 GPs cannot diagnose a chest infection through listening according to the paediatricians I have spoken with and this is further backed up by research on patients being misdiagnosed. Apparently it is extremely difficult to diagnose a chest infection except through using X-ray. Also, by listening you cannot hear whether it is viral or bacterial - that is clear nonsense I am afraid. DD is just back from hospital where she was treated for a terrible cough resulting in breathing difficulties and which turned out to be pneumonia which was totally missed by a number of GPs ...

KatyMac · 20/01/2011 07:13

I hope your DD makes a quick recovery.

DD's peak flow is 170 (normally 250) she is quiet & lethargic during the day for 3 days now. We saw the GP on Tuesday, not sure whether to go back today or wait until tomorrow

I rang & asked the asthma nurse to give me a call; I'd feel silly wasting their time

OP posts:
KatyMac · 21/01/2011 08:39

Still poorly, peak flow 160 but she is really miserable in herself

Hope she starts getting better soon.

KatyMac · 22/01/2011 00:41

She is better; I think she is calmer knowing it isn't asthma (although the symptoms are the same)

But she really has calmed down

2 days of anti-biotics & she is fine
