Hope she improves soon

KatyMac · 17/01/2011 22:06

I know - but she has had a lot today anyway

Probably 6 puffs since about 8 (I think)

Her breathing is still lovely & controlled

Is it bad enough for 10 puffs?

Is it bad enough for hospital?

Most of the time DD makes her own decisions; but I have final say

DH is back now

My questions were the ones I am second guessing (like you) rather than actual ones

How old is she?

That's what I think; she hardly ever had attacks (as such) just problems when she has a cold

ds has been awful in the last 24 hours.
Down to a&e last night, steroids, lots of inhalers...now on new regime....6 puffs every 4 hours, then tomorrow, 5 puffs, then 3 puffs 6 hourly for 4 days...and so it goes on over 2 weeks.

Trouble is, he is needing more inbetween the 6 puffs, so today he has had so much ventolin, on Drs orders. Never been this bad. Specialist asthma practioner at clinic insisted he have antibiotics too on top of everything else...and she wont prescribe ABs to anyone.

Ive spent the day being worried and then relieved and then worried again. Nearly took him back tonight he was struggling with wheezy cough, but his peak flow was still ok.

Gaaaaah! Eventhough we have been doing this for 7 years, he is so well controlled normally that when he has an attack, I become mrs indecisive.

Yep Mrs Indecisive - that's me

Hope it calms down for him soon

She was off school today after a bad night and has been an odd colour but improving all day until bedtime (as always)

When my LO had asthma attacks, the rule of thumb (for us) was if 6 puffs couldn't hold her for two hours, then it was time to go to hospital.

Sirzy · 17/01/2011 22:28

I hate the deciding when to get help from where, and with DS being so young he can't give me any help to decide either yet!

I would take her to the GP tomorrow just to get everything checked though.

Yes, even if you avoid A&E, do go to the doctors for reassurance and prednisilone :)

You never know what the next day is likely to be, so good to get some steroids under her belt.

KatyMac · 17/01/2011 22:33

Yep after 2 bad nights the GP is a certainty

I do visit the support threads - just not often as she isn't bad often

I think we are safe from A&E tonight

Thanks all - she is asleep now & I have calmed down
