Oh! The Places You'll Go!
Just wonderful but too hard to read to DDs without crying at prospect of them feeling lonely.
Got it for my nephew's 18th birthday ... seems very appropriate for big birthdays/graduation etc.

misspollysdolly · 18/03/2008 13:47

I love 'Oh the Places You'll Go!' - Have given more copies of this to adults as a gift than to children!

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2008 13:50

Lol at the cat in the hat being stranger danger.
I always think it's not on that in Scrambled eggs super he runs off stealing the eggs of rare birds.
And green eggs and ham? Shouldn't they have gone in the bin months ago??

PotPourri · 18/03/2008 13:51

OH the places you'll go - it is such a lovely, realistic view of the world. DDs adore green eggs and ham

Skimty · 18/03/2008 14:16

DS1 (Sam) loves Green Eggs and Ham. He can't really understand it (18mths) but thinks that the 'Thank you Sam' part is brilliant!!

I love the Lorax but I think it's sad.

I also found Scrambled Eggs Super a bit off - why didn't he share any of it with his friends?

Kathyis6incheshigh · 18/03/2008 14:17

Joanie.

Nigella Express has a recipe for Green Eggs and Ham - she does a sort of pancake with pesto in it, I think.

LOL Joanie. Did you do that yourself?

hazeyjane · 18/03/2008 14:22

"Green eggs and ham", my sister and my favourite when we were little, and have now read it about a hundred times to dd1.

Also love "There's a wocket in my pocket"

Expensive, but very cute twinsuk.co.uk/product.php?id=100493

IorekByrnison · 18/03/2008 15:15

The Cat in the Hat Comes Back.

Vvvooom!

emj23 · 18/03/2008 16:32

I loved the The Lorax when I was little. DS likes The Sneetches and I Wish That I Had Duck Feet.

twinmumma · 18/03/2008 19:17

Mr Brown can Moo! One of my twins makes me read it over and over and over again! bless!

BarcodeZebra · 18/03/2008 22:50

DD1 is 3 and loves Green Eggs and Ham. In my version Sam-I-Am has a very high pitched Preston accent.

She also adores Fox In Socks because I read it very, very fast (LOTS of practice )

JulesJules · 19/03/2008 11:49

We love the ABC one
R R R
Little Rosie Ross on her Red Rhinoceros
DD2 can't say her 'r's, so this page is more Jonathan Woss, always makes us giggle.

AliciaJohns · 19/03/2008 14:21

Green eggs and ham, definitely. Although Oh the Places You'll Go makes me cry, in a good way.

I wish you could still get the old 1970s hardbacks though, somehow not the same in paperback!

hana · 19/03/2008 14:28

love Are YOu my mother
and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

TwoIfBySea · 19/03/2008 15:06

I know it will be very popular now but I still have my copy of Horton Hears A Who from when I was my dts age. They love it too, a person is a person no matter how small!

They can't wait to see the film version.

I never did like kangaroos or monkeys after reading it though!

JRocks · 19/03/2008 15:18

The Lorax has been my favourite since I was little

Joanie · 19/03/2008 21:38

Skimty - yes I did write it myself, should've done a (c)
ooh, Ive never got a lol or a before. My posts normally just generate tumbleweed. Has made my week this (saddo emoticon)

LyraSilvertongue · 20/03/2008 12:31

Here's some more for you Joanie. lol!
Twas very clever.

Grouchyoscar · 20/03/2008 13:56

Daisy Head Maisie is a good one

As a Sesame Street fan I'll also big up Wolfgang the Seal's favourite, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

All Dr Seuss books are gems. He was a visionary and a sad loss to the world (along with Chuck Jones, Hanna, Barbera, and Jim Henson) I buy them whenever I can (Well before DS was ever even thought of)

I was in FAO Schwartz in Chicago 5 years ago and the merchandise was stunning. My mate couldn't believe we didn't get it in the UK.

Ted Guisel, we salute you

Skimty · 20/03/2008 20:27

I've never written a lol before. I even read it out to DH!!

helewele · 21/03/2008 13:39

Our favourite is The sneetches and other stories - absolutely fab the ABC comes a very close second

Klaw · 21/03/2008 19:38

Green Eggs and Ham, of course!!!
