DS2 is supposed to dress up as a book character for World Book Day on Thursday. We have a great doctor's outfit but i can't think of a character for him to be. Are there any?
We also have a policeman's outfit and a fireman's but I can't think of any character for them either.
DS1 is going as Harry Potter so he's sorted.

lol. Ah yes, Dr Foster, that's the chap.

midnightexpress · 03/03/2008 21:13

Doctor Foster. He could wear his wellies too, which, if your ds is anything like mine, will always be a Good Thing.

lucymack · 03/03/2008 21:16

Fireman Sam, PC Selby from Postman Pat could be your alternatives?

LyraSilvertongue · 03/03/2008 21:16

My friend's doing Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs. I told her she was lazy
Doctor Foster is a good idea. he has a good pair of wellies.
Isn't Dr Doolittle a vet? I always thought he was

And take an umbrella.

Though I'm imagining this outfit is a little more in the paramedic style, than the frock coat variety? Is it? Or is white coat surgeon look?

Strangely, surgeons don't seem to feature in children's literature much.

VintageGardenia · 03/03/2008 21:16

Hmm quite hard.

Dr Who? not exactly litratchur
the one in the Secret Garden who comes for Colin's legs
Dr Seuss...
errrmmm sorry keep thinking of Dr Spock

ahundredtimes · 03/03/2008 21:17

Tsk. Lyra, he WAS a human doctor but he never made any money and his sister - who was his housekeeper and rather sour - despaired. And then he discovered this unique gift. . .

LyraSilvertongue · 03/03/2008 21:18

100x, it's a white coat and stethoscope kind of outfit. perfect for Dr Foster. Umbrella is a great idea too.
Thanks gals.

a few doctors here

ahundredtimes · 03/03/2008 21:20

LOL at the doctor who came to see Colin's legs in the Secret Garden.

'And who have you come as today Lyra's ds2? Tell everyone, nice loud voice'

artichokes · 03/03/2008 21:20

Doctor Dolittle is not a vet! He is a doctor who shuns human patients in favour of animals. He can communicate with Hugh Lofting who wrote about him in illustrated letters from the WW1 trenches.

LyraSilvertongue · 03/03/2008 21:21

Most sincere apologies artichokes.
again.

Ooops . That should have read "he can communicate with animals. He was created by Hugh Lofting..."

LyraSilvertongue · 03/03/2008 21:22

I didn't read many children's classics when i was a kid. i was more interested in Beano and Whizzer and Chips.

VintageGardenia · 03/03/2008 21:26

I loathed Colin.

LyraSilvertongue · 03/03/2008 21:27

DP thinks Dr Foster is a rubbish idea.
Yet he can't come up with anything better.

Oh did you? I quite like him, especially his heavy curtains. It was the hearty rustic one that did for me.

Anyway, you have made me laugh a huge amount. I now want Lyra's ds2 to go as him.
