My DS is about to turn 6 and is a decent reader but not yet reading for pleasure. I feel like we are on the cusp of short early chapter books - he loves all the Julia Donaldson etc but we've been reading them forever and I think he's ready for a bit more. He is easily frightened and prone to nightmares so I don't want to go for Roald Dahl yet.
Can anyone recommend first chapter books that I could read with him and he could read a few paragraphs/pages? He likes to share the bedtime read!
