My two-year-old is obsessed with “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” which is lots of fun.

The Cat in the Hat is also great for that age.

yellowlorry123 · 14/03/2021 06:24

Not sure the Mr Men books, unless they have been rewritten? We have a few and some are great abs some cringey, they're written in a different era.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 14/03/2021 06:31

Oi Frog (and others in the series)
You Choose
The Wonky Donkey
The Koala Who Could

Adam Bestwick - The Chicken that Hatched a Cow

For 2.5yo the Gossie series is nice, about a little gosling and her friends. It isn’t too wordy and the repetition helps the child to build vocabulary and join in. My DCs loved BooBoo the best.
Puffin Peter is also a lovely one (more wordy)
Jon Klassen books are brilliant and as an adult I liked sharing them with the kiddies at nursery, they opened up lots of discussion about doing the right thing, and predicting what happened.
You probably already have some but the ‘That’s not my...’ series are nice, simple and engaging.
The Wibbly pig series is also lovely especially the one about the big brown bear!
There’s an ouch in my pouch, has lovely repetition and is a fab one for siblings/pregnancy.
Not a box/ Not a stick are nice for imagination.
The Nancy Tillman books might be too wordy at the moment but they are bloody lovely and all children deserve to hear their messages.

Ds likes the Usbourne Poppy and Sam books. Also the 'that's not my...' books. Loves the gruffalo, the scarecrows wedding and the snail and the whale.

OhTheTastyNuts · 14/03/2021 08:19

Rob Biddulph books are lovely - Odd Dog Out in particular.

At that age, my son loved the Little Bear books by Martin Waddell, but I'm not sure if they are still available.

Oliver Jeffers - all his books are great, but particularly the ones about the boy and the penguin. Stuck is also brilliant.

Supermarket Zoo and How to Grow a Dinosaur were firm favourites too.

Eleventhgreenbottle · 14/03/2021 08:23

Peepo by Janet and Allen Ahlberg is lovely!

Eleventhgreenbottle · 14/03/2021 08:26

Also Farmer Duck by Martin Waddell. Both have wonderfully simple yet detailed pictures, and a rhythm to the words that make them fun to read and listen to.
Really like Room on the Broom etc too for similar reasons.

katmarie · 15/03/2021 07:29

Ds also likes the nosy crow felt flap books, where's Mrs fox etc.

Griffith123 · 15/03/2021 17:11

Rob Biddulph's Dinosaur Juniors series is great for this age group, simple rhymes, bright, detailed pictures
the kids can join in with but funny too. I know Spot the Dog has been around for a long time but my kids still love d those books until they were about five|!
